Nassau Community College

I have applied to Nassau Community College's Nursing Program for the third and final time. I have been declined two other times and if I get denied a third time I will not apply again. It is getting a little embarrassing that I keep on getting declined.

Their lose is another school's gain...

I believe the deadline is in March. I already submitted my application

Online it says they accept apps march 8th to the 24th, but you already applied? I want to get my application in there.

Maybe Kuklara submitted her application to admissions for admission to the college and transfer her credits. Admissions to the nursing school will be in March and is a separate application process submitted directly to the nursing department. One has to be already matriculated and have pre-req credit from another college already transferred. That's my guess, unless they changed the procedure from November when I applied

so coming from suffolk, I need to get my transcript over to them now to apply in march then?

all pre-req credits and electives that you can use towards nursing degree must appear on your nassau transcript before applying to the nursing program. You apply as a liberal arts major and then when you are accepted to the nursing program you will change your major. You must be a matriculated student first. Confirm with admissions, but that's how I did it in November. Transfer the credits by applying and sending or bring official transcripts from previous colleges.

It's a different procedure for applying directly from high school but that's how it was for students with previous college credits

Good Luck!

Karenanda, I had just mailed in my application, check, and official transcripts to NCC about a week ago. They told me all I have to do now is it wait until April/May to hear back from them whether or not I got accepted or not. Your saying there's another application I need to fill out?? Everything I sent in is for Fall2010 and I was told that as long as what I sent in was in by march then I'm fine. The application I sent in was the one from the NCC site that you can print out and mail it to them. I selected the program of my choice and whatnot and the woman at admissions said everything seemed good to go. What do you mean by 'applying again' in march?

Let me know, Thankyou.

Russl66, Perhaps there is a different procedure for students not currently attending NCC or they changed the procedure. When I applied in November, there was an application from the nursing department and we had to submit directly to them. Best of luck!

Karenanda, Yes maybe it is different for applicants outside of NCC or perhaps they did change it, or I am missing out on something ha. I think I will give admissions a call very soon to clarify things up. Do you think I should ask all my questions directly towards the nursing dept. or I can just ask admissions?

-Thankyou!

Russl, there is a dedicated nursing admissions counselor in admissions. I forget her name, but it's something like Mrs. Pereshevsky. I would ask to speak with her and she would definitely know. I just checked the website and I confirmed that students not yet attending NCC apply directly to admissions and current students apply to the nursing program. Here's the link. Sorry for any confusion.

Karenanda, thankyou for the link it def. helped a lot. Thanks for your help and encouragement hopefully in spring I can fill you in with the good news!

Russl - I did the same exact thing as you. RIght now I am in Farmingdale and finishing my pre-reqs. I want to get in NCCs nursing program for September. I called NCCs office of Admissions and spoke with a very nice lately. THe first question I asked was when the application had to be in my. SHe told me the deadline was in March. I asked her what I needed to do. She told me to go online, fill out the regular application, mail it in with the 40 dollar check. She told me to contact Farmingdale and tell them to mail over a copy of my official transcripts to MVV. I did that too. I then called back the next day after reading all the threads on here about when they were accepting applications and the lady told me that it was OK that I sent it in now and the deadline was in March. The end up March they take all the applications, see whos grades are the highest and should be getting the results sometime End of April early May

Sorry for the typo in my last thread...that MVV should be NCC lol

Kuklara511, glad to hear someone else is on the same page as me. Okay that's what I figured. If you hear anything else I'd appreciate it if you can fill me in on anything, I'll do the same. NCC is not the only nursing program I am applying to, however I have heard great things of NCC's program. When I went down to NCC's admissions office about a week ago, there was a guy there who was very nice and was in his last year of the nursing program. He told me that when he applied 2 years ago, he was 'rejected/not accepted'-got that letter in may. And believe it or not, the first week of JULY he got another letter saying that seats have opened and he got in! Just a thing to consider if you or me is put in a position like that, but hey who knows we'll just hope for the best.
