I wanted to create a thread for applicants of Spring 2022 to come and chat.
Ill be applying with transfer credits for General Psych, Eng 1 and A's in AP1, Developmental Psych, Stat, Biomed Ethics. AP2 to be completed in Summer session 2. My TEAS average is 78, with science a 60 followed by next lowest score of ELA as 70, but I am retaking it this Aug.

Hey I also intend on applying for the Spring 2022 day program. As of right now I have 8 classes done and I am taking Microbiology now. My grades are:
A&P 1 B+
A&P 2 A
Ethics: A
Eng 1 A
Eng 2 A
Psych 1 B-
Psych 2 A
Stats B+
I took the TEAS last year and got 95 on the Reading and Math. 75 on the Writing and Science. Hoping to bring my Writing and Science above 80 and targeting 85+ in them to bring my TEAS average above 90.
I applied with just three classes and my TEAS and I got a pretty hard no last time so I loaded up on classes during Fall 2021 and two for the Summer
Famous Kitten, you feel like a shoe-in!! Are you planning on applying to night or just day?
any idea what the cutoff for points for those admitted usually is?
I really hope that I am going to make it in. I know the program is super competitive but I need to finish Microbiology and retake the TEAS before I can be confident.
I honestly really don't know what the point cutoff is (or how to calculate it) for admission but I have stalked previous year's admission threads. I have noticed that most people admitted have 7 or more courses done and average above 80 on the TEAS. In other words, once you retake the TEAS I think you will be a really competitive entry!
I'm definitely focusing on the TEAS, I'm using an app and ATI TEAS Secrets from Mometrix. And Youtube videos. My first attempt was without any AP classes, so that should make a solid difference.
I attended the NCC info session and asked about their point system used to rank applicants.
For the TEAS, you score each section: up to 79.9 is 5 points, 80-91 is 10 points, 92-100 is 15 points. They super-score so count the best score from each section from each attempt. Add those up. You get 10 points for being a Nassau county resident and 5 for never attending a nursing program before. For every class you take- you multiply the number of credits of the class by the points your grade affords you. An A gives you 4 points, a B gives you a 3 and a C a 2. You add all these up for your total points. I'm a 154 according to that.
Just wanted to update my post with my updated TEAS scores:
Total score: 86/Advanced
Reading: 85
Math: 93
Science: 80
ELA: 87
Total NCC points for TEAS: 45
Total NCC points: 26 credits x 4 (for all A's)= 104 +15 (NCC resident & never been in program before)= 119 +45 = 164 points.
Fingers crossed!
Hey I just wanted to respond and say it back to you, I think you are definitely a shoe-in! My current total rubric score is a 166 and that is purely because I took one more class than you. See my napkin math at the bottom of this to take a deep breath and be proud.
I asked my friend what his deal was when he was accepted into this program... He got in with 7 classes (all A's) and an excellent TEAS score.
Some napkin math puts the max score at 211. 7/10 pre-reqs done is about 10 credits which is 40 points. Considering the rest of his application was perfect, he was sitting at a maximum score of 171.
Hey Famous Kitten!
I love your napkin math. I wish I did just slightly better on the TEAS but I am not as worried about not getting in as I was before, I accepted a preschool teaching job for the next school year so my hands will be tied with the number of classes I can take no matter if I get in the program right away or not. I still really hope to get in!! But I've told myself if I don't I will just keep reapplying as I complete the last two pre-req's and maybe take the TEAS yet again...
How is Microbiology? In the Fall I will either take Microbiology or pathophysiology, which I heard from the Dept Chair will be "the hardest class you will ever take in your life!" heh.. intimidating!
People have made FB pages for the nursing program, maybe as more people join we can do that too! I joined Fall 2020 just to check things out. Fingers crossed to us getting in ?

Hi all!
Debating applying for Spring 2022 at nassau.
TEAS 84%
Science 70 math 100 reading 96 grammar 76
Anp 1 and 2 As
Micro B+
Statistics A
Freshman comp and lit both As
Psych B
History A
More classes too overall GPA of 3.5.
I don't know if it's worth applying tho. I would ultimately want FT day program. Does nassau offer a FT day program that is Spring start?
I'm not 100% sure on how to calculate my rubric score since I can't seem to find the rubric on the website.
Yes! They offer a ft program Spring start. They have day and night options but night is much more competitive. Calculate your points to see where you would fall according to my prior post, there’s never a guarantee but I think you have a good shot!!
Seems like 155 because I don't get the 10 resident points.

If I were you I’d apply!
