Looking for anyone who is applying to NCC for Spring / January start ( or anyone else on the road to applying) who wants others in the same situation to go through the process with.
To answer your question Katlyco, this is also my first time applying to Nassau. I have all of my pre-requs and co-requs and some additional classes done. I have a 4.0 GPA, and I am from Nassau.
I am sorry to hear that you did not get in, have you thought about meeting with a counselor to discuss why your application was denied?? It might help your application for Sept commencement??? Best of luck to you.....Stay positive and keep going with doing your classes.
I too applied for the day program.Question: To all applicants who were accepted (congrats!), was this your first time applying??
Thanks!
This was my second time applying for evenings. Since the last time I applied, I completed micro which was my last co-req. I only have the nursing classes left!

Do you mean meeting with a nursing counselor? I'm not sure how to go about doing this. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
I tried to get into A&P2 this current semester but of course it was completely closed with waiting lists. I'm currently in pysch 216. I've been trying to register for A&P2 for the spring but once again its completely closed. I'm beginning to get very frustrated. If I can't get into an A&P2 course I think my chances of getting into the program are slim
Don't give up hope. When I registered for A&P2 this fall, it was closed out but then I woke up early morning to see if there were any openings the last day tuition was due & there was quite a few openings that I quickly took. Paid for it the same day.
Also speaking with someone at the info session is very helpful. Thank goodness I went to 2 info sessions - I learned a few new things about the program from the last info session than the first one. I started out as a non-matriculated student when I started taking classes at Nassau. What I learned from speaking with an advisor (because I transferred some credits from another school) is that I needed to be a matriculated student with a liberal arts or prenursing major when I applied for nursing & the classes that counted towards nursing needed to be listed on my NCC transcript. It makes it easier for them to calculate gpa and I'm assuming calculating the points system as well (which I learned from visiting other threads on this forum).
Hi Katlyco,
AP and Micro classes fill immediately. I registered on line MINUTE i was allowed. If was approved to register on the 11th, I was on my computer on the 10th at 11:59 pm and hit the REGISTER button at 12:01.
I did my AP II in the summer and registered for Micro in Fall (taking now) and ALSO reg for APII - just in case i decided I couldn't keep up with the summer class - I would have a back up. (luckily I made it through APII in ths summer and it wasn't so bad)
Perhaps if you don't get pushed in an AP II for spring, try APII in 1st summer session and Micro in 2nd summer session.
Good luck !
I just got accepted to NCC and am in the middle of my first semester. I have to say I am loving it. THe professors are SO nice and helpful. They have so many resources to help you succeed such exam review classes that are 4 times a week. I too got accepted to Adelphi but chose Nassau because the tuition is cheaper, their reputation is very good and there NCLEX passing rate is close to 90% which is VERY high compared to other schools in the area. I'm not going to lie it is a lot of work, alot of studying and reading but I am sure it is like that everywhere. Personally, I love Nassau and am so glad I got accepted into the school. This is my first semester but so far I have nothing but good things to say about the program
hey can you please inform me about what classes you had completed before you applied for the ncc nursing program and what your gpa was . i am yet to start my pre-reqs spring 011 and plan to apply for the program for the fall sem. thank you for your perusal.
Hi all,
I am tentatively in the nursing program for a Spring start. I have all my prereqs and coreqs done. I am in medical micro now. I think i have one humanities elective to take, but I am not sure. I live in Nassau.
My dh did not get accepted. He has all his prereqs and most of his coreqs. He doesn't have sociology and humanities electives. His gpa is a slight lower than mine.

Tranzfikst and Kalyco-sorry to hear didn't get in, I find it VERY strange considering your stellar GPA and backgrounds. It seems to me it's the programs loss but I would definitely still apply for fall 2011 because you both seem to have excellent chances.
To answer your question this is my first time applying and I do not have all my co-reqs done. I am currently taking a&p II and psych. 216. I also need to take medical micro over the summer. My GPA is 3.9.
