Hello,
My husband has a career opportunity in the Nashville area. We have been in Florida where I began working as a CNA, then nurse tech/Patient Support Tech, and then got training as a telemetry tech. I've been taking prerequisites for a nursing program associated with our hospital system to get my RN/ADN. Within a year I will be in our nursing program which will take 18 months straight through.
My question is if anyone knows of a hospital system with a similar program in the Nashville area? I would really hate to give up a good opportunity in front of me here to get locked out of my plans to become an RN in TN. If anyone knows of the different hospitals and what educational opportunities there are I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you!

Hi,
I live in Nashville and I'm in an ADN/RN program, though not through a hospital. I do it through Excelsior College, it's an online program, which TN accepts. If you don't find what you're looking for specifically, that might be an option for you.
Feel free to PM me, and good luck!
I dont mean to hijack the thread but, how do you like the Excl. program> is there alot of support for the courses?
I just graduated LPN and am looking for the RN programs and none are near me.
Sorry for the time lapse.. been out of town.
I love the program, and the college. It requires the right person to do it, but it includes a lot of freedom. There are multiple groups online to connect with, and a bunch of people on here to learn from!
Thanks for the reply. The support sounds great. I looked into it and I only have 6 classes to complete before I sit for the board....if I go through Excle. program. Definitely on my priority list !
thank you
Oh wow! You're not far from the end at all! Lucky. :)
The best!

What is this excelsior college you speak of? Do you have to be an lpn or rn first? I am relocating to TN and trying to figure out where I should apply! I already have my AA in general studies (still lacking a&p1 &2, chem, etc.) and trying to decide where to go that's not too expensive, but where I will not have to wait forever to get in. I am 28 and wanting to start a family asap! Im also not sure whether to do lpn, and, or bsn! Oh...the possibilities....haha
Sorry, meant to reply to your post!

Excelsior is an online college. As far as I know it does not have a campus in Tennessee. It is completly online except for the end of the program where you do a short intense clinical to complete the program. I would advise against it unless you are highly motivated and able to work independantly. Also, from what I read on this forum, it is not accepted in the state of California. So even if you have been an RN for several years in a differnet state and then move to CA, they will not give you a license because your education came from excelsier. Here is a link to some info about the program.

Look into TCAT. ...LPN but ya gotta start somewhere, and you can bridge (theoretically)... and it's dirt cheap, ($2500 TOTAL) plus there are a lot of assistance programs
