Hey guys I didn’t see a thread for Napa Community College (NVC) and wanted to start one. I was looking at the website and realized that it says “random selection” has it always said this because I swear it was first come first serve. Anyways if anyone finds out or wants to ask questions here come chat!

Hello, thanks for starting this thread. It’s no longer “first come, first serve”. It’s more so based on luck if your name gets picked. I’m not sure if the time stamp matters much now.

The website being down really hindered my plans.

Hey there! No timestamp requirement for this year's nursing program... also the deadline for applications has been extended due to Napa's power outage!
Napa's "random selection" is the same thing as a "lottery"... I needed clarification as well so I called, and called, and called until someone could define "random selection" :/
ps. Immagetyouok thank you for starting this thread

Hi all! Multiple questions (sorry!!): During conversations with program directors or (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) to you all have any idea if any preference will be given to applicants who turned in the application during the original posted timeframe? I went to great lengths to get my materials in on June 20th despite a webpage outage and the post office being closed on 6/20 (I sent the application via fedex). Any insight if random really does mean random? I'm reading posts from last year and it sounds like the program changes selection criteria frequently (even after applications are in). NVC is financially and logistically my only nursing school option due to family obligations and prior student loan debt. I'm feeling a little discouraged by the fact that there were over 200 applicants last year. I thought I had a pretty decent chance of getting in until I read that! Mainly asking to soothe my anxiety . . .

I spoke to (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) recently and timestamp doesn’t matter . From my understanding there’s no priority given to anyone if you got your timestamp earlier than everyone else. You just have to send out your application during the stated time frame and hope your name gets picked.
That is in fact correct - there is NO time stamp priority @ NVC! The deadline has been extended…

Hi everyone! I received notice today that decisions will be mailed out today by week of Oct 3. They said that because they had issues with their system and extended the app period by 3 week, they are also extending the status of my application by three weeks. Anyone got the same email? I mailed my app in by June 20. ?
Same! Last week I received an email saying I did not meet the requirements to apply nor did I take the required courses ??♀️ that email took me for a spin mentally… I went over my transcripts for hours! I called out and didn’t go to work - I needed to figure out the wtheck os going on… mind you my packet was approved by a counselor from Napa.
we’ll come to find out my transcripts were overlooked and one the courses were not recognized ????
My cousin just graduated from Napa’s nursing program last year; she says to get ready for more computer issues we haven’t seen nothing yet!
