Anyone ever work at Saint Anthony's Hospital in Alton, IL?
Anyone ever work at Rosewood HealthCare Center in Swansea,IL or Edwardsville, IL? I'd be working on a skilled nursing unit.
Please share your experiences with me. Those are two of a few places here that I'm considering working for?
Thanks for any input you can share with me! :)
Good morning dayshift nurses!
Just bringing this post forward to see if I can get some ideas from other nurses about those two places. Also, would you work for twenty per hour dayshift in a skilled nursing center? Isn't that way low for an experienced RN?

I'm in the Chicago area, so I don't know much about facilities in southern IL, but $20/hr for an experienced RN is ridiculous anywhere!
You might try posting your question on the Missouri forum, as many nurses practicing in southern IL cross over from the St. Louis area. Good luck.

I agree with Jolie.... 20 bux?!?! Definitely NOT in the Chicago area & surrounding suburbs. I can see that kind of salary in Southern IL where the facilities may be few & far between... But a SNF? Especially a large corporation like Rosewood?!??? Uh-uh, no way!!! Here in the far south Chicao 'burbs, Rosewood almost ALWAYS has an ad in the paper for RN's & LPN's up to 26/hr. Granted, that may be with shift diff, or supervisor pay, but Rosewood can afford to pay more than that & I wouldn't be ashamed to ask....I would have to ask what your patient load will be.... will you be Medicare charge?
I wonder if Rosewood still makes you wear all white with a cap?? Used to several years back.... Some nurses like it, some don't. I am one who doesn't, lol... but I always seem to get my whites horribly filthy with Dilantin, Betadine, & whatever else will stain it...

Thanks Jolie! :)
And...I agree...twenty/hour is awful. I'm NOT taking a job that pays that low for my nursing expertise.

Thank you TracyB! :)
I told them why I declined to work for them due to the pay offered. No way will I sell myself for so little.
Yes, I would be hired as a charge nurse over a medicare skilled nursing unit. I declined the job. The DON pleaded with me to reconsider...stated she really thought I'd be an excellent asset to the facility. Well..apparently not THAT great of an asset since she said she couldn't offer me more pay per hour.

Same stuff, different places, drive over the bridge to make money or settle.

$20/hr is actually good pay for an experienced nurse in Southern Illinois. There are many experienced nurses in Southern IL making far less than that.

That's what i was thinkung. $20/hour for SNF in Southern Illinois is pretty good. (charge nurse or not) Many places don't pay the DON's any better!

cheerful....$20/hr downstate is good! esp. when i know that my boss mad less then that at a hospital near to the springfield area. the farther north you get, the "cost of living" is higher (think chicago mentality); thus, the pay is more. south, things are a little more "relaxed".
i will keep ya posted on the facilities....

I'm a former travel nurse who made $33/hr telemetry. I'm in central Illinois and am making 21.65/hr at a SNF as an MDS coordinator and am lucky to be getting that. DON pay is 50K/yr (which comes to about 25/hr).
