I am a soon to be Grad. One month to go!!! YAY!!!! I am wanting to go to work like the day after I graduate. I plan on taking the remainder of my pre- req's for the RN transition and working full time. But I am having a very hard time finding a Hospital in my area that even hires LVN's.
This concerns me, I am afraid if I go LTC I will lose my skills.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I am in Ft. Worth and have no idea what to do next?
One month and counting!!!!

My contact at JPS ( I have been in conact with her from almost day one of Nursing School, she is in HR) told me that currently there are no LVN hospital positions, but there were plenty clinic positions. I really am afraid I will lose my skills if I take a clinic position. That is my biggest fear.
I worked at the Vintage in Denton in their Alzheimers Unit several years back as a CNA, I loved it. But, what I worry about there is, being in Charge of so many patients and losing my skills. The ratio's are pretty high in LTC aren't they? It seems a little risky to me for a Grad to come out of School and jump into such a high ratio. Am I not seeing the whole picture, do new grads get any kind of formal training once they get into a LTC facility?
