My thoughts on NCLEX

Published

I just took my test today and I have never had a worse feeling about something. I got 170 questions and had 2 drug calc questions. I did over 3000 questions to prepare for this plus my school used ATI. No amount of questions could have prepared me for the NCLEX. I knew way more than what that test asked. I feel like I could have written a prep book with all the questions I did. I am extremely frustrated and had to vent on here. Thanks for listening! Oh, on top of it, my car burned last night!!

I know how you are feeling and although I took the NCLEX long ago, I remember feeling the same frustration that you are feeling. I recently took the CCRN exam and was frustrated by that exam as well. It seems that these types of tests are designed to make one feel really frustrated and confused.... I actually was quite upset about it, wondering why nurses wanted to design this kind of test for other nurses...asking why we are so mean to each other, blah blah blah.....

Well, not that this changes anything really, except that I did ask a lot of people about their licensing exams.... Apparently Masters level Psychologist's licensing exam has to be passed at 50%, and PHD level is 85%. Now that is a very difficult exam, to only have to pass 50% and to be considered a Licensed (Professional) Psychologist!

I understand that Accountants have it the worst of all, they have 5 separate tests that they must take and almost none of them pass all 5 on the first try.

Do I wish the nursing exams were fair and truly tested one's knowledge?? Yes...so bad, I can't even tell you... but I think it is just the nature of the beast, they are designed this way and we all just consider ourselves very lucky if we pass them the first time!!

Good luck whichever way it turns out! ;););)
