Hi everyone :) some of you have asked me what materials i used to study and pass the Nclex pn... so here we go :)
First of all RELAX if this is ur 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or however many times you've taken it let me tell you YOU ARE NOT A LONE!! I've taken it twice and I know how it feels to be depressed or how it feels to question yourself and what you know ... you want to know why your "failing" and what to do?...
YOU need to breathe! when you enter that room tell yourself your going to pass!! DO NOT be negative !! && someone here told me when i get to a question i dont know or during the test if i get frustrated to just close my eyes and pray a quick prayer and continue... this helped me a bunchhhh!!! (THANK YOU TO THAT PERSON) i prayed all throughout that test... another thing, eliminating 2 of the 4 options will give you a 50/50 chance of answering it correctly... YOU know your stuff!! YOU have graduated nursing school and trust me it is all in your head locked up somewhere you just need to FIND THE KEY && relax, pray, and believe that you will PASS!!! DO NOT GIVE UP!!
Okay. let me tell you how I studied...
Take at least 2 months!
Saunders PN 4e: This is a great book to study content. It took me 3 weeks to get through this book. I took 100 question exams on "level of cognitive ability" and clicked on "application" questions... Try to aim for at least a 65%
After finishing Saunders:
Exam Cram Practice Questions: This book has 1000 questions + Rationals... I did a chapter a day which took me 5 days to finish... the book is about $20-$25 depending on where you get it from... It was a great tool to prepare me for answering questions
After finishing Exam Cram:
PDA by LaCharity: THIS BOOK IS AAAAAAAAAAAAAA-MAZING!! i highly recommend it for PN and RN test takers... It gives you detailed rationals and Nclex style questions...Its about $25-$30 at barnes n noble... Took me another 5 days to finish this book... BUT i only did chapters 1-18 i did not do the Case Study chapters (no need)
After finishing LaCharity:
I took a 2 day break !! YOU need these breaks!!!
After my break:
Kaplan Qbank: I recommend this as well... their questions are JUST like Nclex!! I sat there at my computer and said "wow i wish i had taken advantage of my qbank the first time around" i was amazed at how kaplan qbank was so close to nclex style questions!!!
I did 50 Qs a day with 100 Qs from the Saunders CD for about a week...
AND then... I found myself in a chair in front of a computer with my heart beating reallyyyy fast ... I thought to myself "I have come this far... I need to concentrate and move forward with my life ... I will pass this test and God forbid if I don't then there is always a next time... but i will PASS..." && i began....
Here I am now :) with the "good pop-up" good news I did it && so can YOU!
God Bless & Good Luck,
Mery Dee
