My 1st Interview

Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

I graduated this past April, took my NCLEX mid July, got my pass letter in the begining of this month and the BVNPT just posted my license number online yesterday. I was just so excited about it I went online and filled out about 20 applications last night. I woke up this morning to find an email from one of them asking me to come in for an interview this Monday! It's for an Orthopedic Office for a well known medical group in the area.

I'm so nervous...What should I expect? What should I wear? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Specializes in LTC.

I don't have any advice but congratulations and I hope you get the job!

Specializes in Psych, LTC, Acute Care.

Wear business attire like a pant suit. Expect to be asked questions about your strenghts and weaknesses. They may ask you about time management and words that discribe your personality. They may ask you situation questions.(What would you do if this happened?) those type of questions. Good Luck and google "Nursing interview questions."

Thanks...I'll do that!

I had 2 interviews today, one for long term care and one for a physicians' office. I was interviewed by a care coordinator and an LPN at the LTC facility so they asked more about nursing knowledge, skills, and experience, with a few 'team player' questions thrown in. I talked with a human resources specialist at the physicians' office, and it was mostly about handling interpersonal conflict, prioritizing, and 'customer service'. Both places asked how co-workers would describe me. In my head I'm going, 'Huh? Don't ask me that, ask THEM!' but out loud I said, 'they might say I'm a little strange, because I like to have fun no matter what I'm doing. Sometimes I'll wear scrubs with cartoons on them or carry party noisemakers in my pocket. If I can help other people smile, it's fine with me if I look silly.'

Well I had the interview. I think it went well...BUT they told me the other person they are interviewing is a referral from one of their doctors....oh well :(
