My school has failed to provide the state with proof of graduation

Published

I graduated with a Certificate of Practical Nursing in May 2015, the following month, I mailed the state my registration fee and completed my background check. In August 2015, I received a letter from the state indicating that my application could not be completed because they needed proof of my certificate from my school. I have since requested that the school re-submit the document on three separate occasions, however, here it is SEVEN MONTHS later and the state continues to report that they have received nothing from my school. Has anyone else dealt with this? What are my rights as a student and applicant?

What is the school's response? Do you have a hold on your account? Schools are accountable to BoN

I think I'd go to the school, in person, with proof that the transcripts weren't sent. Either bring the letter stating this or else documentation of the date and time you spoke with the BRN rep and her response to you.

I must say that this type of thing sometimes occurs with for profit schools. I'm not knocking for profit schools, I attended one for my VN program and they did drop the ball when it came to sending the things required to pearsonvue and the board of nurses.

That is ridiculous. I would honestly go to the DON and not leave her office until she gets the papers, puts them in an envelope and I would mail it myself. If you have paid all fees up until now, there is ABSOLUTELY no excuse for them not to send the paperwork. I don't understand why they ouldn't, you taking the test and passing brings up the schools scores. Which is what potential students look at when wanting to go to nursing school. They are potentially losing out on future students. May try to rub that fact into their face. I would also make some poor yelp reviews and contact maybe BBB, school is a business and they aren't doing what they are said to do. See if the Board of Education can help you out or what info they can tell you on what is actually expected of them. They are potentially keeping you from being employed because with nursing you cannot work unless licensed and they are keeping you from this. Potential loss of income? Fight fight fight, make a scene.

Good Luck
