With a 3.9 GPA...I would say you're in. I was accepted to my BSN program with only a 3.3...The average BSN GPA of the programs I was rejected from were between 3.5-3.8
Most programs only look at your entrance exam scores (if they require one) & GPA. I applied to about 4 programs and they didn't look at any type of experience or license. Based on youre GPA you have a really really good shot.
Good luck!
You've got great stats, I'd say your chances are quite good. Different schools look for different things though, look up past threads on Texas Tech, they will give you some insight into what that particular school is looking for. I got into TWU- Houston's traditional program with an over all GPA quite a bit lower than yours, TWU weighs heavily on first attempt grades for AP1, AP2, Micro and Stats which I think got me my acceptance since I didn't do well on the TEAS. Other schools look only at overall GPA and test scores. UTMB considers entire transcripts, frowning on any Ws you might have. All schools have their own formulas- you're definitely on the right course.
Hello,
I am also applying to the 2012 BSN program at Texas Tech. I have a 3.4 overall GPA and a 3.4 in my science courses. I have done volunteer work in the emergency room at Covenant and I am also certified in CPR. I moved here in August and have been finishing up my pre-reqs at Tech. If I do not get into the program I am going to be in trouble lol. I live 9 hours away and I will have to pack up and move back if I am declined. Can someone please give me some insite into what I should expect and if I have a good chance of getting in or not?
THANKS!!-
C.J.

So I am a male sophomore at a small community college in West Texas and I want to apply to Texas Tech Traditional BSN program in December. I have wanted to be a nurse since high school, so much that I became a licensed emergency medical technician 2 years ago (I'm 19 now) and volunteer on the ambulance during the holidays. I have a 3.93 GPA (requirement is 2.5) and am almost done with prerequisites (I only have 3 classes, and you can have up to like 6 classes remaining and be eligible to apply) and worked during the summer as an anesthesia technician. With the GPA, licensure, and experience could anybody tell me roughly what my odds of getting into nursing school are? Anybody with insight would be greatly appreciated.
