My nursing entrance exam says...

THAT I CAN'T READ!

At the school of my choice we do not take the DESI or the HESI or NET any of the others I may have heard of. We take the DET- Reading and Math only. Seems pretty simple right? Nope- I had heard that the reading was very difficult but I still thought how hard could it be? I have always been a really good English student. This test actually said that I basically can't read.

Ugh- I am so nervous. There is no way that I will have enough points on my app. now. I will find out in the next week or two it I will be accepted but I can't imagine that I will.:banghead:

Thats strange. I would be very curious to see what I missed. I know when I took the hesi they gave us a printout when we were finished. It told us our final grade, the grade for each subject/section, and even broke reading down into subcatagories. It had drawing conclusions, meaning word use, implications, and understanding. I did pretty good making a 97.87 on reading overall. What I found interesting was the only ones I missed were in drawing conclusions where I got a 90% instead of 100 like on the others. I liked this as it gave me a idea of where I made my mistakes and where I could improve. You might call the testing center, and ask if they have some way to do that for you.

I am sorry about your results. I have never heard about that particular test. Have you taken any other reading placement test that differs greatly? If the results vary tremendously from your expected results I would delve into why. Hang in there, it might have been a really hard test and others faced the same result as you.

As someone else mentioned above, perhaps it is a very difficult test. Maybe everyone scores fairly low on that portion and it is expected. ??

If that is not the case, and you are secure with your abilities in this subject, I believe I would try to dig a bit deeper and find out why the results turned out as they did. It doesn't sound right.

Hey there..it sounds like I am going to take the same test.

Did your test happen to be called the Arnett DET exam? I am taking it on March 31 and I am really nervous. I have been told the Math is so so but the English/Reading is very difficult.

I purchased the ARCO study guide which is on my school of choice web site. The practice tests even confuse me. The answers on the reading portion are so close together that I don't know which one to choose.

I am very surprised that there is no Science on it.

Did you get your results back yet? I hope you did well.
