My NCLEX Experience 7/6/2016

Just to get this out of the way, I am a retired Marine and I am disabled. I was diagnosed with PTSD in 2011 along with many other bumps and bruises that accompany 21 years of active servce. I received such great care that I decided to go to school to become an RN to help others. In May I received my BSN at a small private school in Buffalo, NY and yesterday (7/6) was the big day, I took the dreaded NCLEX.

I utilized kaplan and U-World and combining the 2 I felt for me was beneficial. I did well over 4000 questions and maybe read 50 percent of rationales. I also had the ATI book from school but im not focused enough to read all the in between stuff. Again, thats just me and I am not discouraging it.

Truth be told, and this is just my opinion, this may have been the weirdest-hardest exam I have ever taken. So to get to the skinny, prior to going in I prayed and prayed. During the exam it felt like I wasnt getting many low level questions. Most were application, who do you see first, infection stuff, maybe 6-8 SATA's, 2 med calculations (1 I missed cuz I didnt divide into 3 seperate doses), 1 or 2 drag and drop, some other procedural stuff etc. Oh and I got one picture with a question. And I had to recognize what it is and provide education on it. Anyways I was moving along and 75 questions came and went. I got to 87 and it shut off on me.

I walked out of there saying to myself "what in the heck just happened"? Ive been in multiple war zones and this was a feeling I never have experienced before in my life so I can only imagine what you younger guys and gals go through.

So I got home and decided I would try to re register (you know, the PVT pop up). I got all the way to the credit card page, I put it all in because I figured well if I failed I will have to re-take it anyways and shell out 200 more bucks. When I hit submit I got the good pop up. It was a little early so I did the whole process again and again and again lol. Stil got the good pop up. This morning after 24 hours had passed I tried again and still got the good pop up. I know there is mixed reviews on its accuracy so no way am I telling anyone I passed. Tomorrow I will be able to do the quick results. This by far has been the most stressful period of my life.

I wanted to share this with everyone because for years I have read everyone else posts and encoragement. I want to encourage each and every one of you to do your very best and work hard. When I get the true results I will be sure to let everyone know.

I passed with 75 questions and walked out of there having no idea how I did. "Weirdest-hardest" exam is a good description.

Sending good vibes! I crawled these forums for weeks before testing. Fast forward 6 years and I just took APRN boards. These certification exams are the WEIRDEST tests ever! Make sure and post as soon as you know!!!

Thanks everyone! I just wish I knew How truly accurate that damn PVT "Trick" is. My logic tells me if I failed they would let me go all the way through and pay. This way they can gobble up more money. Oh, and just to let everyone know I used a good credit card just didnt use a valid expiration date. I may have checked 10-12 times in total now LOL SMH. I also checked online credit card transactions and it has never been charged. I say this to make others feel at ease.

I agree who heartily. Thanks for the kind words. After 36 hours post exam im still getting the good pop up. Tomorrow I should get the quick results and just praying I passed.

I am oficially an RN. And for the record the pop up works, just wait until its gone through grading both times i.e. Wait 24 hours. Thanks for all the kind words. Oh- I chucked every single NCLEX piece of material I had lol

I did my exam also on 7/6 and it was the easiest exam I have ever done. I was afraid the questions were below the standard. I did PN-NCLEX last year and it was really hard and if I had to grade myself, may be I got a 30% but I passed anyway. This RN-NCLEX if I had to grade myself, may be above 90%. That was easy!!!
