Wonderful story of a 3-11 RN's influence on her daughter.

This Philly woman always knew she wanted to be a nurse

My mom was a registered nurse who worked the 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. shift during a time when many moms did not work outside the home. To me her job was one of excitement and glamour.

... I never thought I would be called to lead but my desire to care for patients, staff and family led me to this place. I am present in each moment. I have found that my passion is in creating that moment — no matter how small — that will make a difference for one person. While my lady in white has left this earth, I know that she is looking down on me, proud of the legacy she created.

What a lovely tribute to your mom...I'm sorry for your loss. What wonderful memories you have, I hope they bring a sense of peace to you. My mom too was nurse of the starched uni, cap in place, pin and name tag on and polished shoes era. I have her cape, pin and school ring. She is now in a nursing home. On the good days she remembers much of her career. On the not so good days, she is firing the staff because they are not meeting her expectations as a supervisor...

May your mom Rest in Peace

To repeat PP,  'what a  lovely tribute'.
What nsg school did she graduate? I wax longfully for the days of 'wearing our whites and our CAPS'.

To Nutmegge, good wishes for your Mom.
