Heh ... you're actually worse than I am! Wow!! :) I don't have as many, but I do have a couple of med-surg books, a maternal-neonatal book, some peds books, all my books from paramedic school (including pathophys), A&P, Micro, nursing procedures, clinical skills books, a careplanning book, some med math books from medic school timeframe, a couple of drug books, a few of those little pocket-sized flip books (RNotes and PDQ for RN), plus all of my books for ACLS, PALS, and BTLS (several years' worth, actually; the old ACLS/PALS books are pretty useless now). We were actually discussing the need for some new bookshelves in our house. LOL
Oh, and I have the Saunders NCLEX review, and a bunch of those "Made Incredibly Easy" books for stuff like Fluid/Electrolytes and Nutrition -- I really like those books. :) I'm such a bookworm; I must have been a librarian in a former life, or something ...

This is so funny! I thought I was the only one..I'm running out of room for everything. On top of textbooks, I also have notebooks shoved full of information found online. I've started to go through everything being that I'm buckling down and getting this RN course over with. I'm finding it hard to part with these things though...packrat I guess. Whichever, I wish everyone the best with their classes!:redpinkhe:w00t:
i also forgot to mention i have several of those little flip books, rn notes, lpn notes, iv therapy notes, med/surg notes.
i also have books on ethical and legal issues of nursing, end of life care. plus a ton of others.
my bookshelves arre compltely full and dear hubby says i have to get rid of some books before i buy any nore book shelves, looks like i will continue to stack my books on the corner of my computer desk( at least the ones i use the most):icon_roll
Ha ha ha!! I have a similar stack on the floor near my desk. We're getting rid of his papasan chair in the front room to make way for bookshelves. Yay!
I just need a bigger house period. Our two year old has taken over all the extra space: Dora kitchen, mini table, chairs, toy box, etc. Unless I want pretty crayon drawings on everything used for studying it has to be out of her sight. I wanted to ask you ladies also, did you enroll through Exc. or through TCN or something like it?:sofahider
Nope, just directly through Excelsior! :) You don't really need the publishing companies -- you can find their materials for less moola on eBay anyway.

nope, straight with excelsior, bought most of my boks off ebay and had a friend give me about 8 books after she finished her bsn at the local university.
i had the tcn guy come over about 2 years ago , listen to his routine and did not sign with them. waste of money!!
Thanks for the replies! I need a couple of the textbooks for Excelsior since they added a couple of things recently. I guess I'll look on Ebay.

when looking on ebay, you will find many of ec books listed, but a secret it to buy the previous edition, you can get them almost little or nothing.
i was able to buy the wong's ped edition 7th not 8th for 14.00 ! that included shipping.
pharmacology the same thing 5th edition instead of 6th 12.00 not 125.00
so shop around, remember not much changes when it comes to skills and basic nursing, only so many ways to put a foley in, start and iv, insert an ng-tube.
the only thing i have current is a drug guide and a newer med/surge book, about the only difference in the new med/surg book than the older ones i have is more colored pictures and a few newer drugs.
good luck on your book shopping!

The only thing I used for the nursing concepts test was Kaplan's NCLEX review. I also went to the library right before a test and flipped through an appropriate text just to look at the pics and diagrams (I am a strong visual learner). I also got used copies of Virtual Clinical Excursions on amazon to help me prepare for the CPNE, which are computer simulated clinicals. I have found them to be very helpful.
