My foot in the door...or enemies?

Published

As a student nurse you get sooo much advice and don't know how to swallow all of it. I graduate May 2014 with my lpn license but I have been a C.N.A for a couple of years..my question is what are your thoughts in going into a nursing home or sub acute facility and working as a C.N.A and when obtaining a license expect they would hire you? When I go in for an interview I always ask if there is room to grow and let them know that I am looking to move up as a nurse. At the same time am I making enemies out of the CNA''s that I will be working with, because they see you as one of them and then you become a nurse and now you are delegating to them......THOUGHTS???

I worked as a CNA for 2 years and got my LPN license in September, and then started working as an LPN. As long as you don't get a "I'm better than you now" attitude, it shouldn't be a problem. Some may get jealous, but honestly just brush it off. That is their problem.

umm if they want to move up the ladder and become an LPN they can too. Girl do you. LOL. But seriously, as the above poster said, as long as you don't have that "I'm better than you" attitude it's ok. Jealousy is a part of life.

I think it is a little of both. You may get a job quicker and better at a place that you work at especially, if you're leaving a good impression however, you might have a few haters who will look at you being a nurse and delegating to them as; you were one of them, you think that you're in charge now, you think you're better than them (even if you don't act that way at all or come off as a butt hole). People will hate as you are moving up the latter and going up higher. You will just have to brush them off girl. If they want to be nurses and be where you are at, they are welcomed to go to nursing school as well so therefore, being a nurse where you were once a cna can be a gift and a curse. Good Luck girl
