MUSC BSN FALL 2014

Published

Hey! Just wondering if anyone out there has applied for the MUSC BSN Program for Fall 2014??? I plan on applying this December so just want to know if any other applicants are out there or if anyone knows any tips that you could provide for getting in :) thanks in advance!!!

Hey!

Just called and found out that I got in as well!!! I looked for the FB page but couldn't find it! Could I get the link as well?

Congrats everyone! :)

@Apriest Hey so I called back yesterday. They told me I was accepted to the Spring 2015 term. I am on the alternate list for Fall 2014. The woman told me she could not really explain, she said I would have to call back and speak to someone that could explain or wait to I get my letter in the mail.

I also just found out I was accepted. Congrats to everyone so far!! I haven't been able to find the FB group either, could someone please message me the link! Thanks and congrats!

Willxk, that's weird, but awesome! I wish I was getting that same letter : / Speaking of letters, has anyone received theirs yet? Since I'm an alternate, I'm anxious for people to receive their letters, so hopefully spots can open up soon!

Also to Willxk and any other alternates: I talked to three different people about the alternate list (can you tell I'm anxious about it?) and what I got from them is that they do NOT rank the alternate list, so there is no way of knowing where you fall on that list (really not sure why but she said for "various reasons"), usually they have movement on the list about one month after people are sent letters and then again immediately before classes start. I'm really hoping anyone who is unsure about attending doesn't wait until the last second to drop though....hopefully people start dropping immediately and you and I will both get a call soon! I bet if they have already reserved a spot for you in spring of 2015 that you must be #1 on the alternate list.

Also, as a first semester student here is my recommendation to you: Buy the dosage calc book and work all the way through it. I feel that has given me a huge advantage, and they expect you to self teach.

Also, if you have NOT taken a nutrition course, buy a book now and work through it (you have the time now, and you won't once school starts, I guarantee it!) We only got an hour lecture on it but are expected to know everything covered in a typical 4 month course. This program is a lot of self-teaching and being able to utilize self-help techniques.

Thank you for the tips ml52789!! :)

@Apriest I have not received my letter, hopefully we all receive our letters by next week. I am slight confused on my situation as well, I need to call them next week.

I called today! She explained that they only have 80 spots available for the Fall. Since there are a higher numer of applicants in the Fall, they took the top candidates and automatically accepted them for the Spring. So I am on the alternate list, if spots open up I can start in the Fall if not I am automically in for the Spring, due to the limited spots available in the Fall! She also said that the letters are behind, they were waiting for the dean to get back in town, hopefully we get the letters soon!!

Bummer....that probably means that I will not get a spot, even if I am on the alternate list, since I'm probably way down on the list. :(

That's odd and contrary to everything MUSC's done in the past; however, if this is the case then that's awesome; this would give applicants a better chance for admission. :-)

Hello all!

First off I want to say congrats to all of you who were accepted! Secondly, to those on the alternate list don't despair. I was on the alternate list for the spring semester and received my call a month before classes started. If anyone has any questions about getting ready for 1st semester, alternate lists, or any other questions you can message me and I'll do my best to help out.

Congrats to everyone who got in and good luck to the alternates! I was accepted and couldn't be more excited. Does anybody know when they are getting the letters sent out with all of the information? I would also love to join the fb group but I think it may be set to unsearchable or private so I can't find it. Could I get a pm with a link to that? Thanks!
