MUSC ABSN Spring 2015

Hi everyone!!!

I wanted to go ahead and make a thread for MUSC's Spring 2015 hopefuls. I know it is a little bit early to start this thread, but I am just so excited. I am looking forward to everyone stats and encouragement for each other. Looking forward to the results!!!

I would call everyday and bug them to death about it. They want applicants that are ready and easy to get in touch with. They aren't going to not select you for requesting a spot staying on top of things!

I had to defer to August due to financial aid :( Mardi assured me I would not receive any financial aid it sucks but it gives me time to plan a little better. Good luck to everyone starting in Spring!

And muscKim, no worries. Deferring is smart, it gives you time to save up. And I'm not saying that cuz I'm an alternate. I'm saying that because you are a "Hope" story for all of us. You didn't give up. And you have guaranteed spot still! Lol getting married puts u at a independent status I believe. I've been independent since I was 18 because I had my son at 18, so that helps.

Have you heard if the nursing corps scholarship musckim? I believe it's only given In fall and pays all cost if u sign on to a critical need area in SC, do u have FB or email? I'll send it to u!

Because I filed my original FAFSA early this year before I got married I have to file a correction with my parents financial information, which is not at all reflective of my military husband and I's finances. We'll see how that changes things, probably in no good way, especially with my quitting my job. At least neither of us has undergraduate debt.

Yeah, the whole financial issue is a little weird. People who really do have a financial need don't get any help at all and it stinks. I asked Ms. Long about scholarships and she said it is very unlikely that incoming students will receive a scholarship. That's a little contradictory because a lot of the descriptions for the scholarships on the MUSC Foundation page say for incoming or returning students. If in fact it is so unlikely that incoming students won't receive scholarships, then they should modify each and every description for the scholarships. It just gives false hope to those coming on....

Anyway, I am glad I do not have undergraduate debt either. I never had to take out loans before so I think I will be able to swing this.

Good morning my friends! I decided to defer and pursue my other options the school here is also fast track (16 months) and got to stay home which will save me tons of money. It was a great pleasure knowing all of you. Still going to follow this thread and good luck to everyone that got in. Good luck to the alternates as well. I hope you all get the scholarships and funds needed for school. All the best guys esp Mocapoca, DreamMUSC, musckim, Jessicnw and all the pioneers of this great thread.
