MUSC ABSN Fall 2016

Published

I know it's early, but just wanted to start a thread for us prospective MUSC Nursing School applicants. I applied for priority admission, based on my overall GPA:3.81, prereq GPA:3.71 with 3 courses in progress (Microbio, Microbio Lab, and Stats) expect no less a than a "B" in any of them - finals next week. I'm out of state, but considered in-state due to Veteran's exemption. Also, I'm a Hispanic male, with 13 years hospital/prehospital experience (Flight Paramedic). Hopefully I will hear about priority soon, but if not then I guess I'll be in the regular admissions pool. I'll keep you posted. Please post stats with comments.

I also applied for the Fall 2016 semester. I am very nervous and wanted to know what anyone thinks my chances of getting in are! I have a 3.7 GPA overall, 3.8 in prerequisites (all are completed), I've taken many other health related classes and will have a BS in Public Health from the College of Charleston in May, tons of volunteer experience local and abroad, 8 months of being a medical scribe, and 3 strong references (one academic, one from a volunteer coordinator, and another from a professional relation).

Also, I know MUSC says we should expect to hear back in about 8 weeks but I'm curious as to when others who are in the program (or completed it) heard back?

Thanks!

I think your chances are super super great. I would be surprised if you don't get accepted!! Priority applications were due November 15 if i remember correctly (maybe it was the 1st? - you can look on the website) and I got my letter on December 16 so that should give you an idea of the time frame!

Let's hope so! Thank you for the reply and congrats on your acceptance!

I was told by admissions that March 15th is around the time we should be hearing something! I am an out of state applicant with almost 3 years of medical assistant/x-ray tech experience. My undergrad is Biology/Chem with a 3.3 overall GPA. My references came from my boss (MD) and two coworkers (PA and supervisor). I am hoping for the best! I anxiously await my decision. Good luck to everyone!

Hey yall! I think we should be hearing back tomorrow or Saturday. I know MUSC has already chosen the group who got in. I will attach the stats. Good luck!

Anxiously waiting. You said you had stats?

I've been trying to post a picture of them but it's telling me my post has to be reviewed first. So here's what the picture basically says: 16 people got in priority (12 instate, 4 out), 53 people instate got in regular admission, and 18 people out of state. The alternate list has 54 people on it. 198 denied total (71 instate, 127 out of state).

Thank you so much. I don't know if I feel better about it now or not. I hope I'm one of those 18 out-of-state. Fingers crossed.

Thanks for posting! I hope I am one of the 18 also!!

Where did you happen to find these stats are they online somewhere?

If you are on an MUSC computer you can pull them up! I pulled them up yesterday at work on my unit.
