Is it me?
is it so much to ask that everyone working on the floor speak the same language?
I feel as if I am in a foreign country. It seems very rude for coworkers to speak in a language all night long that they know very well not all of us understand

No, it's not just you. Foreign languages don't bother me, but they do bother plenty of other people.

I'm actually ok with it, especially when I have a lot of charting to do. Since I know they're not talking to me, I can chart in peace. If they were talking in English and I happened to sit next to them, I might be "forced" to make small chit-chats. As long as they talk to me in English when we're discussing about pts, I don't care what they talk about in their free time.

There is already a thread going on this very subject. You might find it interesting.

OP: Sounds like you may have a severe case of polyglotitis for which in today's world there is increasingly no cure.
But you could try dialing 1 for English, anyway.
Yes! That's funny! I hear it so often that it does not bother me too much anymore!
I have realized that I am there for one thing only and that is to take care of my patients!
It used to bother me that they all eat lunch together and never include anybody else and all talk amongst themselves. I stick out like a sore thumb there but my patients love me that's what I care about
