Mt. Sac Nursing Program Fall 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Good evening everyone.

My name is Nicole. I made this forum to connect with potential Mt Sac nursing students who may be applying for Fall 2019 admission. I'm am applying and wanted to see others status’s, and maybe gain some insight on what is to come. This is my second time applying to this program; unfortunately didn’t have enough points the last time. As of right now, I have 74 points as long as I’m calculating correctly. Having an associates degree gives me 8 points, science gpa gives me 30 points, overall course work gives me 4 points, work experience gives me 5 points, life experiences gives me 2 points, I got a 89.29% on my HESI which gives me 25 points; totals 74. I know 74 points is pretty low so I am not getting my hopes up. Will be applying again for Spring 2020 if I do not have enough points this time. At that point I will have 77 points, which is still not a for sure in, but I will continue to try to raise my points until it’s enough. I may also start looking into other programs to apply to. Anyway, I’d love to from other potential student. How many points are you applying with? Applying to other school? Any advice? Etc.

Hi Nicole,

I just created the same forum and then found out about this thread lol I tried to delete it but i don't know if it worked. I am also applying for Fall 2019 with 74 points. It is hard to say anything with this score but I am hopeful! I was hoping to get 90% on hesi, but I eventually got 87%. The vocabulary section was very difficult for me because English is my second language, but oh well. What was the score that you applied with last time?

Hi rburanao

I also tired to delete a few other posts of the same thing, but it didn’t seem to work. I am hopeful as well. An 87% is still a really good score, but it’s still a bummer when your so close to the score you want. Last time I applied I did not have work experience, so that was minus 5, which gave me 69 points. When I applied the last time, I didn’t realize that they only counted an associates or Cna certificate(not both), so I miss calculated my points. Anyway, as I said I ended up with only 69 points so it wasn’t enough. I seen in other forums for previous semesters at mt sac that there was semesters where the cutoff was 74 but I’ve also seen it where it is 78. So we’ll just have to see. Keeping my fingers crossed. When did you apply?

I know right! and yours is even closer ? I've seen cutoff with those points too, but is it including the waitlist? I don't think they will accept me right away, but 74 should be able to get us in the alternate list for sure?

I'm still working on the application, but will submit it soon. Do you know what ID photo we have to provide on the application? is it the Mtsac one or Driver license? I got a little confused.

Hi!

Good luck on the application! I am going to start int the spring at mt sac and I do have to let you know that the application pool was smaller from what that counselors have told us. As for the points there really isn't a way to tell but which is the cut off point as it does depend on the amount of people who applied and the points that they apply with to the program. As for the the photo ID you should submit your Drivers License. I know its stressful but I did look at all the schools within a certain radius then narrowed it down that way. I know Riverside has a bigger student cohort/class as they accept more students and their point system is a bit different, also they use the TEAS test not the HESI.

Hi Everyone,
Quick question, how were you notified if to take the HESI exam? I submitted my request well in advance when the dates were posted and submitted my first preference that was January and a second choice in February and I've tried to contact them and the last person I spoke to said the specialist was still sorting out and sending out invitations and I followed up with another email and no response... just wondering how you guys were able to get an invitation to take the HESI exam.

@jessjess0412

When I took the Hesi, I emailed them as well and they emailed me back telling me I was on a waitlist, then emailed me again a few weeks later telling me I had a spot and the date and time. I would just keep trying to email or contact them. I don’t know when the hesi is scheduled for since I took mine awhile back, but I would assume soon

Hi everyone! There’s a thread same as this one where i replied but im going to post the same here. So yeah, I went to the application workshop yesterday in mt sac. By looking at the multi criteria system i calculated 84 points. My stats are:

AS in Pre-allied health from Citrus And LVNlicense

work experience in skilled nursing facility for 6 years as LVN

Second language

low family income & need to work

Hesi score of 82.89%

science gpa 3.5

all other course gpa 3.6

it will be my first time applying in mt sac. But other than that i also applied to citrus college and azusa pacific.

Hey guys! Good luck with your applications! I applied with a 91, i just hope my documents were all correctly submitted ?

i will apply as well. i just took HESI last friday and got 83.2%. Do you know when we got accepted or denied?

On the nursing website after the application period it says “Emails to applicants chosen for Counseling Appointments March 11-14” i’m guessing that’s when people who are considered for the program will meet with a counselor to verify all documents/transcripts.
