Hi!
I was wondering who else was going to be applying for the MSU Denver Spring 2020 ANO, and what their point distribution looked like.
I will get full points for the GPA, and 3 out of 4 on the HESI, and the point for taking classes at the university. I am worried that my HESI score is not going to be competitive enough though.
Hope to hear back! And good luck to everyone else.

I applied for the TNO at MSU. I'm interested to see how things go with the new ranking system. I just wanted to say good luck! Hopefully we will both be in the nursing programs this spring.

Hey ?
You got one point on me (rats!) I got a 94% on the HESI and all As in my prereqs, but I have not taken any classes at MSU so no point there. Thinking about retaking the HESI before the deadline to try to get that extra point but not sure about that....pretty nervous with 8 points. Not sure how it would stack up against others, how many people apply for the ANO program, how well the retake would go...
Let me know if you have any thoughts or info!

Hi mtnab - thanks for the best wishes. I wish you the best of luck, as well. do you know where about you stand, for the new ranking?

MymichelleL - you did great on the HESI. Darn you definitely have that on me! I was contemplating retaking the HESI, but they take the average, so I don't think it would be worth it for me. I wish they would take the higher score, but nope they average everything. Best of luck!
@ MymichelleL wait so do they not average the HESI? I just rechecked the page, and now I feel confused. Also I think that I only have 4 points for GPA, I just recalculated GPA. I really wish everything was not just a big picture view and looked at individual indicators more.
Please let me know your thoughts! I am really worried now.
Thanks!
I e-mailed Karen and asked if they average the HESI scores or take the higher of the two, and according to her, they take the higher score.
I think with all A’s and one B, you still get full points on the GPA ? - if they weight each class the same. Haven’t done the math to see if it’s based on the credit hours of the course - but I bet it still works out about the same.
@ MymichelleL I feel like there have not been too many consistencies. Oh gosh. Oh well I submitted it and it is what it is. I really wish they looked at the individual parts. I feel like I don't understand how they will choose their applicants.
I know! With so few points available, it really is just a numbers game, it seems. Not even a personal statement or anything else. Hopefully, the numbers work to my advantage - and yours! Good luck ?
I believe that I have 10/10 points. My HESI score was 96%. I feel pretty confident, but I'm not sure they know what to expect with this being the first year that they are using this ranking system. With them only accepting 24 for each cohort and the HESI being the tiebreaker, I just have to hope that there aren't more than 24 10's.
With the GPA questions, I think they are weighted by the number of credit hours for each course.
Honestly, I just want to hear back soon. I feel like I can't relax until I know for sure.
Do either of you know how many people generally apply to each option? I was told ~300 applicants, but not how they’re distributed.
Both of you have already taken classes at MSU then, right? Did you like the school? Have you spoken with anyone actually in either program or gotten any feedback about it? I’m just curious as I don’t know anyone from MSU or in the nursing program there.
Also, I did retake the HESi and scored a 98% (woo hoo!) - was excited about that. So kind of like mtnab said, I have to hope there aren’t 48 other people who scored well on the HESI and in prereqs AND went to MSU for 12 credits (I didn’t). Wonder how many people apply that took 12+ credits....
Wish we could hear sooner! If it’s all just numbers, it should be pretty simple, right? ?
That's what I'm hoping, that it's quick since it should be pretty straight forward. I love MSU. I was accepted to Denver College of Nursing, but when MSU changed their ranking system I figured I had a decent chance of getting into the program. I would absolutely love to stay there if I can. My prereqs don't match up well with other schools in the area so those are my only 2 options.
I have met a couple of people in the nursing program and they seemed to be really happy with the program, instructors, clinicals, etc.
I'm not sure about how many applicants they get. I've heard everything from 85 to 300?♀️
Great job on your new HESI score! That's awesome!
