MSN in Leadership - interview

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Hi everyone. I am currently in school to obtain my MSN in leadership. I have to interview a nurse in that field. I don't know any personally and am hoping that one of you in this field will be able to answer the following questions for me.

  1. Overview of the master's-prepared nurse's career
  2. Reason for seeking graduate education
  3. Description of present position and role
  4. Usefulness of graduate education for present role
  5. Pearls of wisdom he/she is willing to share

Thank you. Hope to hear from someone soon.

If you're working on your MSN in Leadership, I would expect you to be a bit more resourceful than to go online to an anonymous message board in order to interview someone. As someone who is also getting my MSN in Leadership, this actually offends me.

I apologize if I "offended" you. My understanding was this was a message board for nurses to reach out to each other and share their experience. My school said nothing about the interview having to be done in person. Since I am going towards a MSN in Leadership I was hoping to hear from somebody currently employed in that position. Thank you for your opinion.

The problem with asking on an anonymous forum is that you can receive information from people who are not who they say to be. So you have to take everything with a grain of salt.

Also a good demonstration of leadership is by initiative. So go out there, reach to your community's nurses and leaders and ask the question. Usually the easiest path is not the best path.

I would love to make an appointment with an MSN nurse in my community. My dilemma is the time frame. We were given 1 week to complete this assignment. Unfortunately where I work nobody has an MSN. Maybe I will try and pick the brain of a cm at the local hospital. Thank you for your advice.

One week for an interview project seems a little tight. No matter how much initiative you were to show, the timeframe is too little.

Well no point fighting it with the professor. Try to contact someone in your local hospital and get them interview over a cup of coffee.
