I have an interview for the ADN program next week. They have all my documents, I've done the TEAS, what should I expect? What types of questions will they ask me? HELP!
They're accredited by WASC though right? That's what's important when furthering your education. You could always do adn-msn after. I live in yorba Linda so I'll be commuting too. I can't work while in the program so I'm going to try & keep my bills as minimal as possible. Commuting isn't that bad if you go on off times of traffic. Where are you commuting from? I'm feeling nervous since you got accepted on the spot. I hope I get in. : /
My friend was told on the spot too. She had a male interviewer. Nurse Jim I think interviewed her. Do you know the name of the person who interviewed you? Atleast you don't have to wait & have the anticipation :) i asked for the afternoon cohort 12:30-4:30. What about you? I'm really keeping my fingers crossed. If I get in maybe we can commute together :)
Nurse Jim interviewed me too. I think his real name is Mr. Kennett though. But everyone calls him nurse Jim, and he introduced himself to me as nurse Jim, haha. I'm sure you will hear from them doom, the orientation for the program is December 3rd, so even though the admissions office says they're going to send out letters of acceptance in December, it'll actually probably come in November.
Another thing holding me back from this program is the fact that I'll be paying $40,000 for an associates degree, and I'm worried that I won't have a job right after graduation and will be stuck in a big fat debt.
Crazy that you had Nurse Jim too. Maybe he just likes to tell on the spot. I can't believe the orientation is December 3rd thats really soon. The lady who interviewed me said the acceptance letters would be going out middle of November. I think they're planning on finishing interviews by the end of October. $40,000 is def a lot of money for an ADN but I think it's totally worth it because there are so many budget cuts and it's ridiculous how many people apply for state schools and community colleges. My neighbor has been a nurse for over 54 years and she told me that MSMC is a great school and their very recognized in the hospitals. Also my friend who is in the program now said that the nurses that work at the hospital told her that many graduates from this school get a job right away. Hospitals know that the students who graduate from here are very knowledgeable. I think if you already have your bachelors though you should shoot for the Accelerated BSN. It only takes a year. When can you apply for that program? Did you not apply because you can only apply to one program at a time? I'm so nervous about getting in. I want this so bad and love the school. Pray for me
I've already applied for the accelerated program, since their application for the May program is due on November 1. But I got an e-mail saying that I can't have two applications going at the same time, so I have to make my decision about the ADN program before my AccBSN app will be processed. I seriously go back and forth a couple times a day on which program I want to do, haha. I spoke to the director of the AccBSN and she said I have a good chance in the applicant pool which makes me feel confident, but at the same time it's not guarantee and I don't want to not get in and be left with nothing to do for another year before I can apply again. I will definitely be praying for you and I'll let you know as soon as I make my decision! :)
Just wanted to pop in with my 2 cents, as a member of the current August ABSN cohort. If you think you can get into the accelerated program I definitely recommend it. It is ONE YEAR. Actually less when you break it down...50 weeks from start to finish. So even if you have to wait for May or August, you'll still get out before your ADN program would. Depending on where you want to work, you may have a better chance at employment with a BSN, as well. Magnet hospitals need BSN nurses.
If you have any questions about the accelerated program, let me know. Good luck on whatever you decide. ...and yes, NJ tends to wear his feelings on his sleeve.
Thanks sugarlips!! I was actually going to call the admissions office tomorrow to tell them I am going to decline the ADN program and move forth with my AccBSN application. I've never taken such a huge gamble in my life, I am so nervous. I will definitely shoot you with some questions as they come. Thank you!!!

Congrats! That's so exciting. My interview went well but dong want to get my hopes up. My friend just started the program this last semester. She loves it so far. The lady who interviewed me said acceptance letters start going out middle of november. Hopefully I'll be seeing you in the spring :)
