For applicants to the Mount St Mary's AccBSN program for Fall 2014.
Who else out there applied? Starting a thread for this cohort. Post anything relevant, thanks!
I'm anxiously waiting to hear anything back from the school other than the fact that my application is in review.
Also, is anyone else having issues accessing portal? I was instructed by my friend to look into admitted students for further instructions on things we need to get done before the program begins like, shots, physical, u/a, and cpr/first aid certification but I haven't been able to access it in days. With the error message "401 UNAUTHORIZED". Just wanting to get a head start on all this. Does anyone who has been ACCEPTED know if we can just choose whatever company to take these classes with or will it be held at the mount?
Thanks for that info. I could see how it just makes sense to split into groups. Group A being the immediate admits based on criteria. I have a 3.7 GPA in pre reqs and volunteer experience and only have 1 non science class in progress, so given that info I would think I would fall into group A. Guess not lol But its okay I'm still happy to get an interview and hoping we get some answers very soon.
Have you all taken the Bio Ethics course and do you have any info on how/when we can retake the Math Placement if we didn't perfect it? I feel like this is gonna be a crazy 2 months with all the other required classes like CPR etc, (if accepted) and just want to plan accordingly as well.
I spoke to the lady who interviewed me (we are not supposed to post names here) and she told me that accepted students will receive e-mails with detailed instructions regarding vaccinations, TB test, CPR certification and math test. From what she told me, we need to have Hep. B and Tdap shots. We have to provide a proof of immunity for measles, mumps, rubella and varicella. We also need to complete a 2-step TB test and a drug test. All of this has to be done by an orientation on August 18th. As the math test is concerned, everyone who didn't score 100% will be assigned a consultation with a math tutor and then re-take the test. This is going to happen at the end of August, as well. For now, everyone can just relax and enjoy summer:))
And, regarding the profiles of admitted students. I will post mine because, as an applicant, I really wanted to know what kind of people get accepted. I have a 4.0 overall GPA (my Bachelor's + prerequisites). I passed math test with a score of 49/50 (98%). I was never employed in a medical field before (I don't have any science background - my bachelors was in arts), but I volunteered in two hospitals for about 6 months. At the time of the application I had 4 pre-reqs in progress (including physiology). However, I completed all of them couple of weeks ago and brought my unofficial transcripts to the interview. I feel like more people should share such info, so future applicants know who gets admitted...
All I can say is that some of you are really mean, and your attack against me is unwarranted. I am NOT confused, and I hope you get your attitude together before class starts. Nursing is a compassionate field and some of you are like "Pit Bulls", mean and unfriendly. Everything that I have said in my post has been TOLD to me by someone at the school. Sorry it does not fit your needs.
I'm sorry you feel that way heavenleegh. No one is "attacking"to you. We are all adults trying to decipher what you said in all your posts. Maybe you should re- read what you post and then put yourself in the positions of those who haven't gotten their acceptances as of YET. For you to say "maybe someone dropped out" or "didn't qualify" are the probable reasons why we received an invite is down right condescending because we are in a stage where I would think unqualified applicants have already been weeded out. There is a way to say things because abbyquinn explained it in a way that I personally wasn't offended by. And if you think everyone in the nursing field is "friendly" and catering, then you are in for a surprise. I'm not commenting to you any longer because to me, you just don't make sense and would rather invest my energy elsewhere. Thanks
Well sorry you feel that way, and thanks for not replying to me anymore because you are MEAN!!
As far as me saying anything about the list is only a repeat from a top person in charge over at the college (I wish I could say her name, but I can't). I spoke to her again on Friday to tell her what this board is saying, and she told me the same thing so I have no choice but to believe her.
Everything she told me so far has been correct for MY process.
Investment in kindness may be better suited for you.

I'm not sure how this works but I posted another response because I didn't see this reply button until after I wrote it.
