EXCELLENT place to work. They treat you so well and have the best pay in NY. Everyone who works in NY knows about the culture of MSKCC in regards to patients and employees. They really push professional development and leadership. Everyone who works there ends up staying for 30 years lol. You also have the opportunity to work as an outpatient as there are many outpatient jobs, but as a new grad I highly recommend to work inpatient to get some floor experience; even if it is just for one year.
Feel free to private message me.
NYCRN6,
I worked at MSK as a Session Assistant in an outpatient clinic at main campus for two years. I went back to school and just graduated this month with a BSN. I was wondering if you have any advice on how to get an interview. I have several contacts who have forwarded my resume on to nursing managers, HR, etc. but still have not heard anything. Do you know if they are hiring new grads right now? Also, how do I send you a private message?
Any advice you have for me would be great. I LOVED working for MSK and would be so happy to return as an RN.

I don't know much about the NYU externship program, however, if you anticipate a job from sloan in the future, TAKE THE CAP. If you do a good job and play your cards right, you have very high changes.
I work at sloan as a session assistant and am nearing the end of my RN program.. i NEVER plan to leave sloan.
PS. Congrats on getting into cap. Its' very competitive!
Hello Thank you for responding. I decided to go to NYU. Majority of my experiences are cardiac related and NYU offered me a job in a cardiac unit. I guess it's really my passion to work in the cardiac field. You're right about Sloan. I only visited two units and so far I already experienced the caring atmosphere. If Sloan have offered me cardiac, I might have chosen them but I have to follow what my heart tells me :) Thank you so much though. Good luck! I'm pretty sure it would be much easier for you to get a position as an RN! It was tough for me. It took three interviews to get an offer in a unit! It was a good experience though to meet so many staff.
They are quite competitive. If the recruiter likes you a lot, she would do anything to find you a suitable dept. Unfortunately, I took an offer that is more in line with my goals. They are very nice. Expect lots and lots of behavioral questions. Great hospital to work for new grads! This is only an interview for the CAP position. Not sure about interviewing for RN position. Good luck though!

Hey everyone,
I was wondering if anyone here works at MSKCC and if you could tell me what it's like to work there. I've heard a lot of good things about MSK and i really hope that i can work there someday. Would you say as a nurse that you feel appreciated? What is the salary like as a new grad? I guess I just would like to know what you're days are like and if you're happy with the work situation.
Thanks!!
