What is the starting salary for a LPN with no experience in MS? I am switching careers, and I would like for my salary to be similar if at all possible. I would appreciate the feedback.

Mississippi is one of the lowest-paying states in the union. You'll probably start at $15 hourly as a new LPN, plus or minus a few dollars. I imagine that cities would pay more than the rural parts of the state.

In north ms,, its 15-18 starting range. Don't forget to ask about benefits such as retirement plan and health insurance. How far you have to drive to work can be a factor also. Many of the hospital floors have moved away from LPN and started hiring only RN, leaving your work options to dr. office, nursing homes, and possible home health private duty and hospice. Working as an lpn prn would be a good way to work while going to Rn school, so I recommend lpn school and cna school as well as a way to start. Having the lpn can potentially knock out the first year of Rn school at some places as well.

In my area new grad LPNs start at around $16-$17 per hour in LTC with up to $2.50 shift differential and $15-$18 per hour in clinics. Home health generally pays about $20 per visit with an average of .45 per mile, but most HH agencies around here require at least one year of experience.
