MRSA and Home Care

Published

I have a question for people just to know what others are dong. What is your agency doing to prevent MRSA spread in home health care? Do you have any good links for this?

Thanks

we provide disposable stethoscopes, bp cuffs, and thermometers in the homes of mrsa patients. We take nothing in the home with us, not even our bag or nurses note for them to sign. Then we sanitize ourselves after caring for them. it would probably be better to see the non-mrsa patients first, then the mrsa patients.

I am unaware of any precautions in our agency specifically for MRSA, other than typical common sense things and universal precautions. There probably is some 15 year old MRSA protocol hidden in a binder in some manager's office which somehow I am magically supposed to be individually responsible for knowing about, but it has never been addressed in my 2 years of HH.
