Hello- My husband and I are both RN and are moving to Az to work for two years with our two boys aged 2 and 6 we will be working for Banner Health we think is this good? Also we have no idea how the american education system works for our boys, how and when are the holidays what age do tthey start school ect any info about relocating would be great.:rotfl: Thank you.

Since you trained in England you do not have to write the English exams, you aer exempt from those. However, you are not exempt from the CGFNS exam if you want to work in Arizona and you do not hold a license already in another state. I would definitely get started on the appication for them as it can take quite a bit of time for your university to send verification, etc. All forms can be downloaded from the internet. You normally do not need clearance from CGFNS to sit for the NCLEX exam. You just apply to Arizona BON by completing the application and submitting the appropriate documents to them. Once accepted, they will issue you an "Authority to Test" letter, usually referred to as "ATT." You must have this letter in hand before you actually register and schedule a date for the NCLEX exam.

In answer to your question, CNMs in Arizona are Master's prepared, as they are in most of the other states. In the US they can have staff privileges at hospitals, can write prescriptions, and can actually have their own clinic. But this also depends on the state. A lay-midwife is a non-medical person, usually a woman, who has been trained to assist in deliveries at home. They so not fall under any type of medical license. They usually have training through various programs around the US.
