Moving to Virginia- would love job advice

Published

Hello -

I am a pediatric hem/onc nurse but have also cared for adults for years. I would prefer to stay in oncology and my husband is military . Moving to Fairfax/Manassas area in 6 weeks. Any hospitals to check out?

Thanks !

Check out the INOVA health system, many facilities to choose from. There is also Prince William Medical Center in Manassas, owned by Novant. I only have personal experience with INOVA, I worked at one of their ERs for 6 years before I joined the Army and moved from Virginia.

The commute in the area is pretty terrible, I would definitely consider distance in making any employment decisions.

If you are considering employment with a DOD facility, you might consider Fort Belvoir Community Hospital. I am pretty sure they have heme-onc and getting into a GS position might be helpful if/when you PCS again.

Thank you so much!

Thank you so much!

Do you know where in the area you'll be living? There is also a hospital in Reston (Reston Hospital Center) as well as Arlington (Virginia Hospital Center). You have lots of options in the area. If you are closer to DC, there are more!

I think we will be in Manassas
