Moving to Seattle alone?

Hi everyone! I'm 22 years old, been working currently in a pediatric cardiac ICU in Ohio for about a year and I am strongly considering moving to Seattle next year. I would be moving by myself, know absolutely no one that lives there or even within 2000 miles. It is such a beautiful city and I have looked into Seattle Children's from time to time. Does anyone have any experience working there? Or moving across the country by yourself? Am I crazy? Lol thanks for any input you have to offer.

Anyone made the move yet? I'm finishing my BSN and squirreling away more money before I start seriously applying for positions. I'm thinking 2014 is my year! I'm too chicken to haul myself across the country without a LOT of safety nets in place first.

I'm a bit of a nomad. I moved to Baltimore, CO, & VA, among other places, knowing absolutely no one. I'm a/b to move to AK. You are on the right track by choosing a larger city. You tend to stumble into people with common interests in larger, more diverse places vs. smaller, more homogeneous communities. I don't regret moving across the country on my own; just be patient the 1st few months. If you're an extreme extrovert (unlike me), that 1st few months b/f you have a group of friends may be difficult. Adventures like this are worth the sacrifices if you ask me. Go for it! Hey all!

I thought I should put myself in this forum as well since I too will be moving to Seattle. I'm from California and will be finished with my BSN from San Francisco by this December. I got hired by a hospital there to work an RN student summer internship and then will work there full time after graduation, so I intend to move there next year. I am 22 years old and will be new to the area! So excited and scared at the same time!

Hello, I'm from Houston too! I have an initial phone interview this week. Then I guess I will see what the next step will be. I have been contacted by recruiters for travel and permanent positions. The one I will be interviewing for is permanent. Never been to Seattle but been to Vancouver, BC. So beautiful out there!! Love it!! Have you applied for any positions? What is your specialty?

I have a year of experience on a Cardiac PCU and my boyfriend is an engineer. We are looking to move to Seattle/Bellevue area in 6 months or so. Is it difficult to find a job? Also, what hospitals are considered 'good'?

Just wanted to jump in here. I'm from Chicago and I have an interview at Seattle Children's Hospital. I definitely want to relocate, but not sure if I should do it right out from graduation, or stay local and then relocate. I'd be moving completely across the country and don't know anyone out that way! How was it for those of you who did make the move?
