Hello all-

My name is Heather and I currently live in the Tampa Bay area of Florida. I grew up in Dover and up till 4 years ago lived in the NH/MA/ME area. I moved down to Florida to be closer to my mom and love having her close. I acquired a baby girl and a husband in the process who I adore and want the best for. We are considering (heavily) moving back to NH/MA/ME after I get my A.S. Nursing...(the education is cheap here, $50 a credit for residents). However, I feel I've lost touch...can anyone tell me how much daycares run for now a days up there? And anyone in the Dover/Exeter/Stratham area. I saw lots of houses just north of Farmington in new developments for under 200k but not much if you go Southeast towards the coast. Currently I'm working for a children's hospital here (that I love and adore), and would like to continue working with pediatrics after I move back. I don't even know if Wentworth Douglas has a small pediatric floor at all. Anyhow, I hope to hear from someone soon with a familiar New England accent.

I can't help you with day care costs as I don't have any kiddos. But I know Portsmouth Regional Hospital has a pediatrics department and I think Exeter Hospital does, too. I'm not sure about Wentworth-Douglass. If you wanted to go a little farther west there's also Elliot Hospital in Manchester. I'm not sure what the pay rates are there (I'm still in the pre-nursing stage), but some other members on here might have info on that.

Housing is pretty expensive in this area, especially along the major routes (95, 93, 101... not sure if 101 was completed when you left, but the areas around that have built up a lot in the past couple years). They say prices will start coming down, but I'm not sure by how much or how quickly. Definitely the farther north you go the cheaper it gets, but then you have to contend with the "you can't get there from here" thing.

Sorry, not sure if this is really helpful to you or not, but I do wish you luck in your move back to the Granite State! If you have any more specific questions, please post!

Hey there, thanks for the information. I think I will end up doing travel nursing with a boston children's hospital to make some quick cash and after we have settled in, then find a place to live and all that good stuff. As long as we have a means to an end. That way we can look around and figure out where we want to live. I've lived there my whole life, (well, except now) but my husband has only visited. I think he needs some true input on what it is like so he can find something of his liking too.
