Moving to CO soon---need info

Published

Greetings,

I may be moving to Colorado soon. Possibly Trinidad area. Anyone have any suggestions on a good RN program in the area? What are the schools like? Is there a point system? Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Julie

Most nsg schools in CO (in the CC's anyway) have the wait list system. You register, and are assigned a number. When that number comes up, you get in. Most students now getting on the waitlists are waiting 2-3 years to get into the program. Some of the BSN programs have selective admissions, but they are extremely competitive, accepting less than 50% of all applicants. There are a couple accelerated programs where you go right through in 15-18 mo - but you have to have a previous bachelors degree. I don't know much about them but I have heard that even they are competitive to get into.

Surprising, but it seems everyone in the state now suddenly wants to go to nursing school.

They all have waitlists, but I'd bet this particular college isn't as bad. Far away from Denver=less wait.

Good luck!

Trinidad was recommended to me because I am in SE CO, but it is too far for me to drive and I cannot give up my current job to move closer. There is a wait-list, but it's not too horrible (better than many in CO from local gossip) at Trinidad and the school sounds decent enough - at least from what I've heard around (who knows 'til you get there though). Trinidad was actually recommended to me by another college as well, so that has to be a good thing. ;) Good luck - enjoy the area!

Hey guys! Thanks for your input. As funny as it may sound, I actually checked out Trinidad State and still felt it was very competitive compared to schools in Oklahoma. The orientation was very informative about what to expect. Hopefully my grades will speak for themselves and I won't have to wait for years and years!! Maybe I'll become a paralegal instead............j/k

Have a good one!!

Any time Julie - I hope it works out wonderfully for you! I too am hoping I don't have to wait longer than a full bachelor's degree takes just to get into a nursing program. :rotfl: Hopefully we will both have some good luck out here on the plains! ;)
