Hello all!
I'm new to the site and I'll be moving to the Cleveland area this August from out of state. I'm looking for an ADN program that I can complete as quickly as possible. I know I'll have to take prereqs, but then it seems like even after those there's a waiting period to see if you get into the programs. How long does that usually last? Can I reasonably expect to take prerequisites in the Fall(2010) and then start a program in the Spring or even Fall of next year(2011)?
I called Tri-C earlier today to ask about this and the woman I talked to was very rude and unhelpful.
And since we're moving I'm open to slightly different areas that could work. I know the Akron area is a possibility.
I'd appreciate any help in the matter! Thanks so much.
Thank you for replying so quickly I have been reading the post about the process. I guess I still have hope that it won't fill. I feel like I have been waiting forever. I didn't poorly on the NET in reading and have been terrified to take the A2. It is my fault for waiting so long but failing the reading section crushed me (
I was told it was done at the end of each month so you should be good to go on that end as the scores should have been sent over today - hopefully you didn't miss out and have to wait another month! When I took it at Columbus State, I took othe exam on campus so they had my scores instantly (and it cost WAY less!).
Did you decide if you were going to go to Cuyahoga Community College or Columbus State? Did you get to transfer your scores from Columbus to here? I am worried if they send them out today then I might have to wait another month. Do they send it by mail?
I think they are sent electronically at the end of each month. I had to take the HESI A2 twice - once at each school. They don't accept each others scores. I'm definitely going to Tri-C. I only have to wait 2 extra months and the clinicals are more geared towards my interests (you get to do 1-3 electives in any specialty area -- I'm doing trauma, acute care, and NICU) and then you get to pick your last quarter clinical (I'm going to do trauma at a level I trauma center). Yippee :-D

don't you mean cscc? i thought you had given up on tri-c. Drama -- I just gave up my spot at Huron Road school of Nursing for Fall 2010 -- no entrance exam. Good school, but pricey. It is about 365 dollars a credit hour so the program costs about 13K for a diploma in nursing. They are affiliated with Cleveland Clinic so I hear their grads are given placement assistance to find jobs at the clinic. Might be worth a call down there. As for tri-c -- it will take about 4-6 weeks (this is what the nursing dept told me) for your A2 scores to reach the campus, then you have to apply and complete a background check. I believe you will be looking at Fall 2011 for sure -- which really isnt that far away.....
oh yeah and I got a letter from tri-c asking if I wanted to switch from fall to spring either westshore or metro -- i actually put metro first and westshore second -- hopefully i'll be able to move up either way -- i really want to get that first clinical rotation down so I can upgrade my job at the hospital to tech and go PRN....
Yes, I meant CSCC. I did give up on Tri-C since they took my spot away, gave it back, and then took it away again. Plus, now my start date at Tri-C would be after CSCC and I'd have to quit my job and I'd have to pay for school at Tri-C - I don't at CSCC and like I said above... CSCC has a lot more rotations including electives which is great for those students interested in acute care.
Foreverlaur,Did you say in one of your posts that the test results are submitted to the school on the 1st?
Drama,
I did the A2 on March, 30th, and I received a letter from Tri-c on the third week of April. And yes, all the test results are submitted to the school on the 1st of each month.
I will start the program in Spr. 2011 (West Shore).

I'd say it is very unlikely. All the students already admitted to Spring 2011 and Fall 2011 will be given first priority and I'd imagine those students will fill up the Westshore campus class. You still have about a month until you are truly admitted because you have to wait for Tri-C to get your scores, send you an application, and then you have to send it back and then wait for another letter back saying which class you were admitted to.
