Hi I Have a few questions that maybe some of you all can help me with. I will appreciate any and all help that you guys can give me.
So I will be graduating in May of 2007. I would love (and am planning) to move to Charleston South Carolina around June (ish) of that year. I was wondering if you guys could give me some info on the best way to transfer my nursing license (should I take my boards here in WV and transfer them or should I just try to take them in SC?). I have been looking at a few apartments, is there any one in particular that you would reccommend for me which area is the best to live in as far as safety and access? What is the average starting salary for graduate nurses there? What is the average cost of living i.e. utilities, rent, gas (since we all know that is a huge issue!), and so forth. If there's any other tips or pointers that you would like to add I am OPEN for any advice you can give me!! Thanks guys...
I got relocation assistance when I moved to Charleston. MUSC paid for my rental truck and fuel expenses. I was not a new grad at that time though. Just call down and talk to Lynn Campbell in Human Resources and she will help you out in every way she can. You can call the main operator and ask to speak to be transfered, the number is 843-792-2300
Hi from Charleston! I'm here with my Navy hubby for the second time in his career. I've been here since May '04 and I like it a lot. I'm currently a LPN working at the Charleston Co. Detention Center (the county jail) and I'm due to graduate from Trident Tech's RN program in August. I live in Goose Creek and I am happy living here. My oldest son is a freshman at the high school and my middle son attends Westview Elem. and I am pleased with both schools overall. I love that I can be at work in 20 minutes thanks for N.Rhett/526 or to my clinical at MUSC in about 25 minutes from my home. Close access to the beaches and shopping too. There are so many fun activities that make this a great place for people of all ages! WELCOME and let me know if there is anything that I could do for you.

Your best bet would be to contact MUSC directly. While I didn't work in Chas. I did work in Columbia for 22 years and the relocation assistance was on a person to person basis. Some got it, some didn't. And if you left before the year or two years you had to pay back the full amt. whereas when they gave it to you it was after taxes.
