Moving to Canada for my masters and permanent residency

Published

Hello everyone,

I'm a Registered Nurse and recently graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Science in Nigeria. After my initial 3-year Hospital based nursing diploma, I was registered by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria to practice as Nurse. I practiced full time between 2007 and 2010 till I got admission to study for a University degree, which I recently completed. My aim of this thread is to inquire about the needed steps to take in migrating to Canada for my masters in Nursing and subsequent permanent residency in order to work there. Please, your response(s) will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

One love Nurses!

Which province? Have you looked to see if you can study this subject as a full time student? Not even sure if it is done as a full time student. All the courses I have seen have been part time or distant learning.

PR will depend on the province and route you plan on taking. Suggest reading CIC website

Moving to Canada for your Masters does not mean you will get PR and can stay and work. You need to look at what kind of work visa you would qualify for after school.

Thanks @Loriangel14 for your your response. In other words, study visa is the only visa that I can apply for in order to study for my masters in Canada?

Yes, to come as a student you have to get a study visa. I think you can work a very limited amount of hours while here ona student visa.

Once more, thanks. If I may crave your indulgence, would it be feasible for me to seek for PR through other means and after which I can enter for my masters?

Do you possess another trade, skill or profession that is in demand in Canada? That would be your only route to PR.
