Hi everyone,
I searched the thread before I posted this so I would not be redundent but could not find a great response.
I have worked in the USA as a cardicac nurse for 2 years. I am thinking of international nursing, possibly Abu Dubai. I love to travel as a hobby with my family but have had this burning urge to do travel nursing or nursing internationally ever since I began my career 2 years ago. I put it to the back of my head since a good foundation is needed. But now that I know I have the experience I am thinking about it again. Has anyone traveled with their family? I have 2 children ages 10 and 6. Any thoughts? Is this a good idea? (I would look for more long term assignments if they were temp (1yr +) so I do not have to move the kids every few months.) Or should I just let it go? Thanks in advance!

I think you need a reality check. Children while they might enjoy travelling for vacation are creatures of habit and routine.
I'm a military spouse and after a few moves, children resent leaving their friends, schools, relatives behind them. No matter how much they enjoy new countries and exposure to different cultures they want to see their relatives, have friends for more than two years and to stop being the new kid in school every 2nd or 3rd year.
Just my two bits. Children are for life and they tie us down. Our needs become secondary to theirs.

hi
i am reading your email...i am foreign educated nurse, trying to practice here. I didnt pass the first time nclex but will try more.
But it is not about me..
Be careful practicing nursing in to be politically correct in "these" countries. The law is strict. If you didnt hear the story of 7 great nurses and one doctor from Bulgaria search the web. They were working in Libya and accused of things they never did. The whole process took 8 years and all this time they were sitting in prison without the verdict. After 8 years they were sentenced to death, but their got amnesty from someone. Just a horror.
so be careful
