Mount St Marys University BSN Fall 2019

Hello everyone!

I noticed there doesn't seem to be a forum for Mount Saint Marys University BSN program (Located in Brentwood). I have applied to their program for this upcoming fall 2019. As you all may know, the program is said to only accept 10 transfer students a year! I was hoping this forum could get a discussion going about the application process and if anyone has heard back from admissions. The Kaplan would also make an interesting topic. Hope this helps anyone who is nervously waiting for an acceptance email (fingers crossed).

What did everyone think about the essay part of the application? I found it difficult not to give a completely overused and cliche response to the question "How will you make a difference in others' lives by becoming a nurse?" It's challenging to write an original essay in response to a question like that.

Yeah, I took the Kaplan in early March! I totally thought we would get more time to study for the test as well. I got a 85% after cramming for a week LOL. I haven't been able to find any admission information on this school so I have no idea what the average gpa or test scores are...

Yeah same here!! I went to several appointments with admission counselors in order to get a better feel of what a competitive applicant looks like but I didn't get much. What they told me is they look at everything, GPA being one of the most important factors. My guess is that they want a well rounded applicant, not just a great test taker. Thats why they ask for the essay and recommendation letters. I also made sure to include proof of my volunteer/work experience on my application too. Im sure that helps.

They just called me from admissions at msmu for their BSN program (fall 2019).

I was accepted! I’m a transfer student and I’m dead.

OMG CONGRATULATIONS!

They called me earlier today too, but it went to voicemail since I was in class. I called them back as soon as I heard the voicemail, but they haven't gotten back to me! The suspense is killing me. I just want to know if I got in or not tonight or I won't be able to sleep lol

I also missed the call but called back immediately. It was admissions at msmu calling to congratulate me on being admitted to their BSN Program. They also had me rsvp to their “Admitted Students Day” this Sunday. It’s a tour, presentation, community fair, family event.....

No don’t be mad! I’m sure you got admitted as well!!! The voicemail they left only said “calling in regards to your BSN application” & I thought maybe I was missing something.

I thought it was strange since they called after hours around 6 & they close at 4 or 5.

Im sure you got in as well. Are you also a transfer student?

I got the call around 5pm which I also thought was strange. Thats why I let it go to voicemail, I never would've thought it was them lol I did call back around 5 minutes later but I got the woman's voicemail and left a message.

I am a transfer student! Do you plan on going to MSMU ? Or are you looking at other options?

Oh yay! I am too. I hope to see you once the semester starts.

Are you looking to live out on campus or commute? Im currently looking for housing/roomates in the area.

I will be commuting but I live very close by. Rent in this area is very expensive tho. It might be more affordable to live on campus if you can't find a roomate.
