Mount St. Mary College MSMC Accelerated BSN Summer 2008!

Published

]Hello all! I wanted to start a thread for any of us who may be applying to the Mount St. Mary's College Accelerated BSN program in Los Angeles, for the Summer 2008 or Fall 2008 cohorts.

]I'm applying for Summer 2008 (to start late-May) and am finishing one of the Religious Studies pre-reqs as well as Public Speaking. :uhoh3: I just bit the bullet and submitted the online application this weekend, now just need to order all the transcripts and get those rec's in.

]Good luck to any other hopefuls out there, MSMC isn't my first choice, but I hope it will be one of my options in any case ;) If you're also applying, make yourself known...we can suffer the pressures of waiting for notifications until December, together!

no i didnt take the bioethics course through taylor. i'm currently finishing it this semester at MSMC. the taylor course is a lot cheaper - about $600 i think (as opposed to almost $3000 through MSMC), and you can start it at any time. the school now requires that if you're going to do it through taylor, you have to have it finished by the time you start at MSMC.

the taylor class requirements include 5 essays, and thats it. the class i am finishing at MSMC had 2 essays, 3 tests. just for a good comparison. it wasnt that overwhelming to take the class concurrently, but it was quite a load, since it put me at 21 units.

hope this helps!!

hey, so nat summed it up pretty well. we are both taking the class at MSMC and if you have time to take it early i would, it is definitely cheaper. i know one of the 5 essay's taylor has you write is a 25 pg paper and the rest are shorter, but from what i hear the teacher is a pretty easy grader. taking the bioethics concurrently wasn't as bad as i thought it was going to be since the teachers are flexible about moving test dates around if we have too many tests on one day. but with the 21 unit load and clinical days it does take some time management skills.

good luck, hope it helps!!

Hi

those of you who are already students

they require admitted students to take math test

were they easy? is it SAT1 math level?

how are we supposed to study for it????

no idea since MSMC didn't really tell us any info about it

thanks guys

good luck at MSMC:up:

i bet you guys are studying your butts off

The math test is pretty basic, fractions and decimal type stuff. When they send you the packet of info and the test date it also comes with a practice test. If you do that then you should be fine.

Good luck!

Hello Everyone,

I am applying to MSMC for Fall 2009, I really would like to talk to someone who is already in the program or graduated from it. I have a bunch of questions and would like to get some perspectives and tips on the program.

Thanks and congratulations!
