Mount Saint Mary's ABSN Fall 2015

Hello!

I applied for the Accelerated BSN at Mount Saint Mary's University in L.A. for Fall 2015. I hadn't seen a thread created yet so thought to make one! Wondering if anybody out there applied and waiting as well?

Quick question!

I I was wondering if you all purchased your books for our classes already or if we should wait until we get the syllabus from each class?

I purchased most of my books already (most used off of Amazon). List of textbooks should be available by clicking on course description. The only one I'm missing is the course reader/skills checklist. Which I should warn you guys to specifically ask for the Fall ABSN 2015 because the lady at the bookstore accidentally gave me the Summer 2015 one and course readers (though I would very loosely classify this as a course reader) are non-refundable.

I also didn't buy the skills video (dvd) yet as she just added it to the list. Plus I wanted to see if we should all share that video since we'd all be doing the skills/lab together.

If I had to do it over I would probably hold off because I think there are a few required books still missing from the lists.

Hi Everyone. Where are you finding the textbook information for our classes? I am looking at my class schedule and clicking on the courses that I am registered in and it says textbook information TBD. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to meeting everyone on the 17th!!

Thanks so much for the info mas18! I haven't seen anything about a skills video but I definitely need to look that up. I was kind of waiting to get my books because some don't list any but I guess it wouldn't hurt to buy the ones already on the list.

They're done by individual class. Go to My Class Schedule via web advisor and click on the link: Click here for required textbooks and prices. If that doesn't work I would just type MSMU bookstore Doheny and then the option for shopping for textbooks should appear on the website. There will be a series of drop-down menus that will ask you Term (Fall 2015), Program (Traditional, Acc BSN), Subject (Nurs), and then the Class and class section. Those should present you with the list. Nurs 41 and Nurs 42A textbook lists are not up yet so I wouldn't worry about these classes yet.

As for books you need. I would get the following books only (these are the books I used):

Medical Surgical Nursing (buy)

Porth's Pathophysiology (rent)

Mosby's Diagnostic & Laboratory Test Reference (buy)

Nursing Drug Reference (buy)

Nursing Diagnosis Handbook (buy)

Nursing Process Manual (by Joan M. Seo-Cho) (buy)

Your post helped me a lot to find out where I can get the info of Textbook. Did you buy all the books listed except the ones not listed yet? There are so many text books!!!!!

The price of the book is also very expensice. What do you if I rent some text books?
