Motlow 2019 applicants

Published

Hello (: my name is Kyla

Just wondering if anybody else is applying to MSCC's 2019 nursing program? The application opens up in a couple of weeks and I have been pretty nervous...I have never applied to a nursing program before and I hear that it is pretty competitive. If anybody would like to share their experience(s) that would be awesome!

I took it at MTSU in October and they do test you on Chemistry and Biology there, but when I spoke to somebody in the nursing department at Motlow they said that whenever you submit your HESI scores they just recalculate your score without those two subjects. They recalculate your score using only your grammar, reading, vocabulary, math, and A&P results. Some schools require Physics but neither Motlow nor MTSU require it. Definitely try to take it before Jan 31 so that you can apply for this coming year!!! It would be awesome if we both got accepted! I am nervous as heck. If you have the time I would definitely try to study the vocabulary, A&P and math. I think I may have mentioned it before but after I took the exam I found some vocabulary flashcards on Quizlet that were identical to the terms on the exam. I wish I would have studied before taking it. Do you have the courses required for the bonus points?

Wondering what others are making on the LPN- RN HESI? And their scores standing ?

I made a 889

with a composite score of 82%

GPA 4.0 (just required nursing courses)

which should give me all the 75 points ....

if im calculating right, I believe I have a score of 621! ? just wanting to know how others are scoring ?

that hesi was a monster to me !!!

@TNLPN_3 I'm not sure what the difference is between the lpn-rn hesi and the normal hesi...I just took the regular one. I made a 90% composite but I took it with all subjects so I believe Motlow has to recalculate it. I have a 3.7 and all 75 bonus points. I'm *thinking* I'm probably sitting around a 619. I'm not really sure what the average score is for those who have been admitted in the past so hopefully ours is sufficient ? we're only a month away from knowing at least!

I’m thinking I have 605 points. I made an 85 and have a 4.0 GPA, but I only have 50 quality points. I’m just now taking A&P1.

It sounds like you guys have a great shot!

I’m glad the HESI is over with, but now we just wait. Can April hurry up already?? I think they found out mid-April of last year

Hopefully our scores are high enough. It would be awesome if we all got in!!

Well I hope we all get in ? i looked at a post from 2018 and it seems as tho anything above 600 from what I read. The thread is still up. But I’m not 100% certain.

That’s what I saw, also. Someone with 601 points got in. I honestly wasn’t thinking I would score high enough on the HESI without A&P. I’m a little in shock to actually stand a shot at being accepted!! Definitely would’ve waited a few months to get pregnant, if I had known lol. I’m due Sept. 3rd and will have a 2 year old and 9 year old when school starts, Aug. 26th! ?

@kzmmx I hope we all get in, too!! ??

I am with you all. My nerves are shot with the whole waiting game! After reading from a current nursing student, I know the program is going to be hard. I am hating the fact that we have to wait to find out if we get in or not. All I can say is good luck to all of you and I hope the anxiety doesn't get the best of us.

Thank you!!

I just came back from vacation a few days ago. I am glad all the testing is done... at least for now lol

Now the waiting game!!!

@myjourney2nursing Have you taken your HESI? If so, how did it go?

I'm going crazy not being in school this semester...even while working overtime.

Is it April yet?? ??

I did good on my Hesi. I got 94%. I was kinda shocked since on the TEAS I only got 78%. I did think the TEAS was harder than the HESI, although the HESI was a very long test!!

I am not sure how many points total I have. I guess I need to calculate it to find out. I have the 75 extra points and 4.0 GPA.

Now, one thing that got me worried today... I was looking at the MyMotlowGPS - graduation point system, under my student account and notice that it says overall GPA: 0

I panicked and called a completion coach. He explained to me that because I DID NOT take any classes at Motlow (all my classes are transferred from NSCC) my OVERALL GPA with show zero, but that the nursing department will look at the individual classes and calculate my GPA. So although I have A in all classes that I took at NSCC, it only shows TA (transfer A), but it doesn't give me GPA.

Is anyone here in the same situation?

The completion coach just called me back reassuring me that they can see my GPA from my transferred classes. I am so relieved! ?

He also told me that we should be hearing from Motlow around mid April,if we are accepted or not. So 1 more month!!!

Has anyone here applied to Nashville State CC Fall2019? I haven't seen any NSCC2019 thread yet, so I guess I will start one. NSCC has an interview as an extra step and I am so nervous about that!!

@kzmmx I also hope we are all accepted at Motlow!! ?
