Most Unusual and Most Important Interview Questions

In any nursing interview you have ever done, whether you were offered the position or not, what was

1. The most unusual interview question you were asked

2. A question you were asked that you would like to warn others so they can be prepared for it

I was being interviewed for a major private hospital and the panel asked me if I knew what the hospitals core values were. Directly behind the interviewer asking the questions, I had an unobstructed view of a poster with the 7 values written in bold, large print. I laughed, read them out and then pointed out the poster on the wall.

I wasn't the first interview (it wasn't even the first day if interviews), but I was the first person to point it out.

I had a panel interview once where we had to develop a presentation. It was strange. The best person did a presentation on communication, teamwork, and making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

As someone who does some hiring now, the MOST important question that we ask is tell me about a time when you did something that was against the rules for the good of the pt. You would be shocked at what people will answer to this question. NEVER, EVER is it appropriate to answer anything illegal or unethical to this question.
