Hello all!
I will be taking my first assignment in October with my retriever and my biggest concern is finding a company that is pet friendly. Anyone who has traveled with a pet and has advice would be greatly appreciated!
Also...was considering going with Cross Country Travel and On Assignment. Pros, Cons? Again would greatly appreciate any advice!
Thank You!
:)

Most companies are pet friendly. You will just have to let your recruiter know so they can find housing that will allow your dog and then you will be responsible for any pet deposits. Also check out "Bark Parks" at your next assignment. I have seen several around the country. It is an off lease park to take dogs where they can run and play with other dogs. Mine really enjoy going.
I hope you find a good place to take your dog with you.
Thank you for your responces! They have been very helpfull. I will be looking into RTG Medical.

I travel with two small dogs and have had no problem doing so. Of course I did have to pay a pet deposit, but my company lets me keep rolling it over from apartment to apartment. That way, I don't have to keep shelling out the new pet deposit every time I go to a new assignment. Some apartments require a monthly pet ret, but the company will divide it up over both of your checks each month. Dog parks are great things, and my dogs really love it. Plus, they are a great way to meet people and get all the ins on good vets, pet stores, etc. I don't travel without my kids. I just told my recruiter on the front end that I don't travel without them. I haven't been denied a job because I am travelling with my dogs. You shouldn't have a problem with taking a dog. Just be wary that some apartment complexes place weight and / or breed restrictions on dogs. That may be your only set back when finding a place to live. Otherwise, no problems at all bringing your dog.
Hey stayseerrn! Thank you for your reply. Would you mind telling me what company you're with?
I am with Preferred Healthcare Staffing. It is owned by American Mobile, so I still get all of the same benefits as American Mobile.

Alot of companies are pet friendly you just might get different housing depending on the area.
I also would recomment American Mobile. I have gone with them and have not had any problems but it all depends on recruiter.
Cross Country has different tax programs that can be a huge hassel.

I think everyone is pet friendly. Sometimes it may alter where you are housed though.
I'm with American Mobile and although they tell me they will have to take out a pet deposit, they never have. I have some other friends who have never had a pet deposit taken out, but told they would. All good, I'm not saying anything! Some housing requires a pet rent, esp. here in Ca (like 20/month or something).

I travel with a dog and have been with Cross Country for 12 years. I've had no problem with housing with a dog with them. There have been a couple of occasions when my recruiter told me that they had previous problems in a location finding pet housing, so they told me when I was still looking at positions (before applying) so I could decide whether to hassle with it or not. In one case I was able to use local friends in the area to put me on to a realtor who could find pet friendly housing, gave the name to CCTC and they were able to work it from there.
