Hi there! Is there anyone here applied in New Jersey -Nursing State Board for the eligibility letter?
I applied october of last year and my eligibility letter has not yet arrived.I have been communicating with them this past months and I am getting different responses from 3 different persons.
First, they told me that I need to apply for CES program of CGFNS and pay $375 so that I will be eligible.(FYI:I have my VisaScreen Certificate).
The other agent told me to register with Pearson Vue for NCLEX first. As far as I understand it, I should wait for my eligibility letter from BON before I register with Pearson Vue. Am I right?
PLease Help me. Your help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I am not familiar with NJ application but if they ask for CES, then you should comply with it. I think they used to require CGFNS exam before, if you already have it, I suggest to ask them if they will still accept it coz if not, you still have to go through their CES requirement.

You really need to have the CES Report first before they will give you eligibility. Additional docs ( aside from those you submitted for visascreen ) like a photocopy of your HS diploma ( waived in VSC if you graduated >10 yrs ago but not in CES full ed. report ) are needed. CES for NJ needs the Full Education Course-by-Course Report w/c entails a separate letter from the dean of your school specifying Gerontology theoretical and clinical hours. CES will not accept a TOR that does not specify this. So, a separate letter will be asked from your dean. I know that NJ, FL, MD require this. I don't know about the other states who need the CES report.
Pls send me PM if you need further clarification re: NJ application

The CGFNS Certificate is not the same as the CES and is not accepted by most places that have the CES requirement. You need to get that done if you wish to work in NJ. NJ used to accept the CGFNS Certificate, but now they want the CES, you need to follow their current requirements that they have posted on their website. If they will accept the Certificate, then it will be posted there. And since it has been more than a year since they made the change, you are needing to have the CES. If they would have accepted the CGFNS Certificate, you would have had your approval.
As a foreign nurse, you never want to register with Pearson-Vue until you know that you have approval from a state BON. When you register with Pearson-Vue, but have not recieved the ATT yet or have been given approval, those funds only remain valid for one year. Then you lose them.
Thanks for those information guys. God Bless!
