Hello,
A long time ago I seem to recall hearing about a program that will relocate people to areas that desperatly need nurses (such as in the country, rural Alaska, places like that) and provide housing, transport, etc for people that are willing to work in these areas for a while.
I am a new grad in Portland, OR. Since I have a degree from an online university (Excelsior) while living in an area that boasts some of the finest nursing programs in the world, I am not very hopeful in getting a job here-- not when I am competing with grads that have such a foothold.
Does anyone know about these temp relocation programs? I have done some websearches but can not find anything. I am not looking for travel nurses-- I only have a ASN.
Thanks!
Kim

Are you thinking of the Indian Health Service, maybe? Try www.ihs.gov.

Has anyone participated? Is it a good step for a new grad?
