Montgomery County Community College Nursing Question

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Published

0Hello all,

i am about to graduate with a bachelors degree this spring from a different university, but realized very recently that I would love to be a nurse. I live 5 minutes away from MC3, and I hear they have an excellent program. My degree i am about to obtain is in exercise science, so I have already completed a lot of the pre reqs and general education requirements for MC3's nursing program.

I have a few questions:

1. Are the nursing classes only offered in the fall and spring, or are summer nursing classes a thing?

2. Based off question 1, it says the program can only be completed in 2 years full time, but with being done so many pre reqs already, can it be completed faster?

any and all answers or advice is greatly appreciated thank you!

1. Most programs offer nursing courses in the fall and spring with summer off (for the nursing classes). Most likely this is how mccc is doing it. Im attending ccp in the fall and this is how they do it.

2. The program is two years, so no matter how fast you wanna do it, you can only take the nursing classes in fall and spring one at a time. So if you have four nursing classes (nurs1, nurs2, nurs3, nurs4) you have to complete one before going to the next. So the shortest amount of time is four semesters. Since you probably cant take the nursing courses in the summer, they will only be available in the fall/spring. So you will have fall/spring, fall/spring or vice versa. Trust me, it sucks because i only have to take four nursing classes and it's gonna take me two years to do four classes. But you will save alot of money if you get in. Hope this helps.

Hello!

I strongly suggest you check out the MC3.edu website to find the most up-to-date answers to your questions.

As it stood when I started the program last year, classes were available YEAR ROUND (spring, summer, fall). Almost all pre-requisites must be completed prior to starting the clinical portion (which acceptance is based off of a points system, with more points awarded for classes taken at MontCo).

Once again, it is always better to go directly to the school you are interested in versus an international forum.

All the best!

Did you ever start the nursing program?

I did, I’m fully graduated from it now, and am working at a hospital on a PCU/tele floor!

Do you know how long the program is?
