Montgomery College Spring 2020

Published

Hi everyone! Though I would post a thread for anyone applying to Montgomery College for Spring 2020!

Thank you for the study tips and advice! Very helpful... I'm nervous, but really excited!!! Wish you all the best!

@cmg9311 Thanks so much! This is super helpful - we just got our clinical and schedules the other day at orientation. Would you recommend buying the books or just renting? I wasn't sure if we would use the same ones again for the second semester? Thanks!

@Liv57 I honestly got PDFs for my textbooks and didn’t pay for anything. But it depends on what you like. Some like to study with the actual physical textbook. But with either a pdf or getting a textbook, I recommend you KEEP it, don’t rent.

@cmg9311 Thanks so much! Do you have a recommendation of where to get the pdf? Really appreciate your help!!

@Liv57 hey, i have few questions for you. Is the exam papers of computer? Also how do they do their dosage and what the passing score? Are we suppose to buy lab material.

@Bunbun08 the exams are paper. You will have to do a math exam which is on the computer. The lab materials you should buy are a stethoscope and pen light. I never needed my own bandage scissors. You’ll also have to buy ATI software and docucare, which are not cheap. About $200 each or so. Dosage you’ll do in your clinical, and the professor will give you a fake patient with a list of medications. The professor will ask you to give that medication in a different unit. So if patient John has prescribed insulin for 10ml, the professor will ask you to please give John his insulin in teaspoons. Something along those lines. And then will evaluate how you properly inject the needles on various points of the body.

Hey, do you guys know if they offer dual enrollment while in the program with any other university for a BSN after graduation?

@Bunbun08 For dual enrollment, there is the University of Maryland. I just got accepted into that program and will start taking classes for my BSN starting this spring.

@cmg9311 congratulations ??. Did you had to apply separately? I don’t know much information about it but want to apply but I’m guessing it too late now

@Bunbun08 You will have the opportunity to apply during your first semester, you can’t apply before you start. And you will have a separate application to do. You will need a 2.75 minimum science gpa (for the classes Maryland requires) and a 3.0 minimum overall gpa, an essay and all transcripts to be sent. Once accepted, you will do counseling with your nursing advisor to see if they will allow you to do dual enrollment. Mostly to see if you can handle the workload of Mc nursing classes and then Maryland nursing.

@cmg9311 oh okay. As far as the classes i have all of university of Maryland classes they need. Because at one point i wanted to apply there. I hope i get in. Do you know if they will let us know when classes start? We start on the 28th.
