Hi everyone! Though I would post a thread for anyone applying to Montgomery College for Spring 2020!
Hello everyone,
Congratulations all. I want to apply at Montgomery college for Fall 2020. I have my science pre requisites and priority courses as well. My GPA is 3.8 . Please give me some suggestions that can increase my chances to be into the program. I didn’t take TEAS yet. One thing that bothers me that I finished all my ore requisites from PGCC and Montgomery asks for BIO 1010 as well or Chemistry. I did mine at high school long times ago like 12-13 years ago. What should I do now? I am planning to take chemistry. But how they. Are points and consider GPA please help me out.
really appreciated.
Hello,
I think your GPA is excellent and having all your prerequisites is a plus. The TEAS is not very difficult but I would definitely get the study guide and practice tests on the ATI website. Have you spoken with the nursing dept. advisor or attended an information session? I think they can answer your questions about the Chem or Biol class. Maybe you can get a waiver? Have you checked the MC Nursing dept website? There is a point system that the Nursing dept uses to accept students in the program which is on their website.
Best wishes to you!
Hello everyone,
please give me a frame how they calculate the GPA ? What GPA they need? How about TEAS score? Anyone who is going to Montgomery but did her ore requisites from out of county, they need bio150 before submitting application? Even I did all pre and priority pre requisites but out of county so I think they need bio 150 as well. Please help to get in.
really appreciated
First, congrats on the acceptance!!! Be prepared to dedicate a HUGE chunk of your time during the week studying. And yes, you can manage working and going to school. I currently work about 25/30 hours a week spread between M-F and weekends. I go to class 3 days a week. One day is dedicated to clinical and two days of lecture. BUT you will need to dedicate some time to go into lab to get practice hours (required).
To pass the first semester you will need a total of 75%. No rounding will be given even if you’re at 74.9%.
There will be a lot of information thrown at you and a lot of chapters to read. You will only need to really focus on the objectives in the PowerPoints given to you. So when it’s time to study for an exam, what I did was, I had the lecture PowerPoint up on my laptop and had my textbook open with the corresponding topic. I went through the objectives. I covered the objectives in the power point and read into more detail in the textbook. If you read and study the objectives and can really explain the material to yourself, you can really get at least a B. My study method was flash cards. Find what works best for you! It’s a LOT of material.
Form study groups! This will help you immensely!
You will NOT get to choose your class schedules or where you go to clinical. Everything is set for you and you can’t change it.
