Montefiore SON 2014/2015

Anyone applied to Monterfiore SON for Fall 2014 or evening program Spring 2015? How quick is the process? What TEAS scores will they accept?

FYI- BMCC also has a evening /weekend program. next entry is Fall 2015. They require the HESI exam. (imtaking all my pre-req's there) if I dont get accepted to Monte, I will be applying there as well.

Hi Ldy76,

I havent scheduled my TEAS yet. Im submitting my application next week, Ive been waiting on my recommendation letters and wanted to wait until this semester was almost over so that my AP grade will be posted by the time I submit my application. I only need Micro and im done. Question: Were you able to schedule your own TEAS date or does Monte do it for you? Also, where did you take it? Thanks

Hi nycgirl305. Monte gave us 5 diff dates n we pick 3 out of it: then they email u 2 days before the test date that you're scheduled to take it I took it at the Monte site. U took ALL of the pre-reqs except for micro?

BMCC's curriculum is stretched out to 2.5 yrs including summer (if other pre-reqs r not completed) They require speech, math n another elective?. But not nutrition.

Thank you. It still doesn't put me at ease. I feel really awful about this and if I don't get in, I will consider doing the LPN route. My main go is to get my masters in nursing, but this whole process is exhausting.

I was looking into BMCC and Rockland CC as well. I already have a bachelors degree, but I have a low gpa and I cannot afford the cost of accelerated programs . So I am hoping for the best. I wish you ladies the best as well

Idk bout community colleges coz it gets extremely competitive considering the fact that there's way more ppl applying and a set amt of seats available. I know that financially it's convenient.

Good luck to u 2. Keep us posted ?

Hi Ldy 76, thanks for the info. 2 days before the test date, wow thats not enough time to help you make arrangements. It would be nice of they gave people more time. and Yes I have taken all my pre-req's except Micro which I am registered to take at BMCC this fall. BMCC does not require nutrition and to apply for the evening/weekend program you need to have all your pre-reqs done before they allow you to take the HESI. I have heard the program is pretty good but dont really know anyone in it, except for the ladies I speak to on this forum. BMCC requires Math 104 which is a dosage/calculations course and can only be taken at BMCC :( and they require Chemistry as well. If you took Nutrition, you can use that as your elective. They are competitive but I just try to stay positive.

yes i understand, they are competitive. Im applying because I already have all my pre-req's there so I might as well, plus I want to keep my options open but I do understand your concern, it makes sense. It is cheaper at CUNY but yes alot more people applying. I also wish you the best at Monte. :)

Hi Diva,

I totally understand your frustration, I too have a B.A and not the hottest GPA, which is why I decide to take the Associates route, plus its hard when you work full time. This process is def exhausting, frustrating and time consuming. I cant tell you how many times I have felt like giving up but im hanging in there because we out so much time and effort into it, we have to at least try. I know how you feel, i get so annoyed with all these schools that all want different requirements and are so competitive. In the end, its a business and its all about making money. Just hang in there, i know its easier said than done, and for any reason you dont make it, its their loss and theres def alot of options out there. I may very well end up in your situation, I totally freak when I take exams and cant remember anything. Im sure you have a good shot of getting in.

That's just a reminder. But when I called Monte, she said that most likely ur 1st choice will b the 1 U'll b scheduled for. I think the only reason they'll pick another date is if there's not that many ppl that chose the 1st date that u chose
